🔔 #CallforProposals 83473527: Digital Career Paths Training Measures – Cloud Computing The GIZ’s Digital Skills for Jobs and Income (DS4JI) project aims to enhance employment opportunities for young individuals in the rapidly evolving South African digital economy. Leveraging the learnings from its predecessor Digital Skills for Jobs and Income, the Digital Skills for Jobs and Income II (DS4JI II) project set to refine the integration of support services, delivering a seamless navigation for youth transitioning from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth that is neither in education, employment or training (NEET) into the digital labour market. The project activities focus on providing career planning and digital career information to TVET students, offering targeted training aligned with digital economy demands, supporting the transition to employment or self-employment, and developing evidence-based digital career pathways informed by labor market analyses. The DS4JI II project is implemented together with the South African Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) and guided by the National Digital and Future Skills Strategy and Implementation Plan. Against this background, the DS4JI II project aims to improve employment prospects for young people, particularly women, by focusing on demand-oriented career paths within South Africa’s digital economy. Career paths include a structured series of education, training, and work readiness programs designed to prepare South African youth for employment in digital fields. The DS4JI II project seeks to support Cloud Computing training measures that create employment pathways for a minimum of 100 NEET youth, of which 60% are young women. Companies with a proven track record are encouraged to apply to develop and implement a Cloud Computing training programme, not exceeding 9 months, that meets established employer(s) requirements, develops soft skills, provides mentorship from industry experts and secured job placements in roles that match the training. The programme must include support measures for gender transformation and disability mainstreaming, informed by engagement with employers/industry bodies, to address underrepresentation of women and persons with disabilities in Cloud Computing careers. GIZ invites eligible and professional companies with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender. 📑Tender documents are available for downloading here https://lnkd.in/dEJ3iTXk Your proposal must be submitted to ZA_Quotation@giz.de by 17 November 2025. About us
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working with South Africa since 1995. The country office in Pretoria opened in 1996. Our work in South Africa is carried out primarily on behalf of the German Development Ministry (BMZ). The core areas of cooperation are: • Peaceful and inclusive societies • Sustainable economic development, training and employment • Climate and energy, just transition In order to develop inclusive societies, GIZ supports the fight against corruption. To this end, it strengthens state anti-corruption agencies and promotes partnerships between the public and private sectors and civil society. GIZ works to make South Africa safer by supporting measures to prevent violence, with a focus on gender-based violence. In terms of sustainable economic development, GIZ helps improve both the quality of TVET and the range of services in this area. It uses courses and internships to support labour market-oriented training and employment. GIZ is working on a socially just energy transition to create an economy that is environmentally friendly and a society that is climate resilient. To achieve this, it is actively involved in developing an environmentally sustainable and secure energy infrastructure and in enhancing energy efficiency. This is cutting emissions and creating new jobs, such as in the hydrogen sector. Similarly, GIZ supports the country in further developing and implementing its national climate policy so as to be able to meet its contributions under the Paris Agreement. Furthermore, as part of a European Union initiative we work to increase production of vaccines and other health products in Africa itself. It also supports the ongoing vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in South Africa. Our work in Lesotho focuses on participation in democratic processes by improving civic education, prevention of violence against women and children and integrated catchement management through regional approaches.

Did you know that the mining sector will be critical for the energy transition? To deploy the renewable energy and green hydrogen projects required for reaching our climate protection targets, a series of very specific raw materials will be needed, and in much higher quantities that what is currently being produced. For example, the global production of the critical raw material (CRM) Iridium currently stands at 7 tonnes per annum. An estimated 11 tonnes are required already by 2030 to meet the expected demand from PEM electrolysers. Recognising the importance of CRMs for the energy transition, the #GIZ implemented #H2SA programme commissioned a study to explore key themes and gathered feedback from stakeholders at a recent workshop. You can learn more of the project here https://lnkd.in/db4szKVJ. If the energy transition will be built with metals, the mining industry should be part of the discussion….

🔙Powering Rural Communities with Sustainable Energy Solutions! 🔍 Today we share this throwback of invaluable lessons learned from the Upper Blinkwater Minigrid Project: This brochure, highlights an initiative testament to the robust cooperation between Lower Saxony and the Eastern Cape Province since 1995. The project's primary objective was to develop and test a decentralised, sustainable energy supply concept tailored for the rural population of South Africa. The cornerstone of this endeavour was the creation and implementation of a hybrid minigrid system that leverages renewable energies with diesel backup, specifically designed for a community in the Eastern Cape Province. This project not only aimed to provide reliable energy but it also fostered sustainable development and enhance the quality of life for the local community.
