This morning our Management Committee met with Deputy Minister Mahlobo David from the Department of Water and Sanitation to engage in a collective approach to deal with the water changes faced by the country. This was an inaugural meeting convened at the ministerial level. We're happy to share the first Dashboard for a Water Secure Gauteng, launched by the Platform for a Water Secure Gauteng (PWSG) in collaboration with our public sector co-chair, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) and key stakeholders. This innovative dashboard represents a significant step forward in transparent, data-driven water management for the region. It provides real-time insights into: 💦 Overall water consumption trends 💦 System status updates 💦 Infrastructure performance metrics 💦 Non-revenue water tracking 💦 Progress on municipal interventions The dashboard exemplifies what's possible when the public sector, private sector, and civil society work together towards a common goal. It will serve as a vital tool for all stakeholders to monitor and understand our water system's status and track our collective progress. South Africa is one of the 30 driest countries in the world, with prolonged droughts due to the climate crisis exacerbating the problem. And just years after Cape Town narrowly avoided a Day Zero disaster, Gauteng now faces widespread water shortages if something is not done soon. Trialogue’s latest webinar on integrating sustainable water management into CSI, supported by the Rand Water Foundation, explored how companies can significantly contribute to water conservation, infrastructure improvement, and support for vulnerable communities.
