Excited to share that we won “Most preferred fast food” at the Consumer Excellence Awards on Saturday evening! Our Field HR Director, Unathi Ncunyana was in attendance to receive the award. More than 53 years later, we still love being a part of this incredible country and it’s so great to see that the feeling’s mutual - Thank you South Africa! Congrats to this entire KFC system for continuing to serve SA with this brand and food they love! ❤️ #AwardWinning #ConsumerExcellenceAwards #KFC

Rugby icon Siya Kolisi and children supported by KFC Add Hope got South Africa singing and smiling during July with a partnership that aimed to turn ‘indlala’, a Nguni term meaning hunger, into ‘dlala’, or play. Now the Kolisi Foundation and KFC have announced that the month-long collaboration raised R6,480,460 in donations from customers when they added R2 to their bill for meals at KFC restaurants nationwide. KFC’s matching contribution has resulted in a R12,960,920 boost for the foundation’s work. The funds will be directed towards the foundation’s food security programme, which provides breakfast daily to more than 4,000 learners at six schools in Zwide, the Gqeberha community where Kolisi grew up in the 1990s. It also offers grocery support to survivors of gender-based violence and assists more than 34 community kitchens which feed an average of 1,000 women, children and elderly people daily. Grant Macpherson, KFC Africa Chief Marketing Officer, said South Africans’ response to a TV commercial and social media posts featuring Siya and Add Hope beneficiaries – all with a catchy iGwijo soundtrack – had been positive. “KFC Add Hope is marking a double celebration in 2023 – its 15th birthday and its R1 billion fundraising milestone,” he says. “Our partnership with the Kolisi Foundation has allowed us to celebrate this in incredible fashion, as we always do as South Africans – and that is together.” Like the foundation, KFC doesn’t only feed children: it invests in the whole child. KFC Mini Cricket, the country’s largest grassroots sports programme, gives 120,000 girls and boys between the ages of three and 12 the opportunity to be active. Ikusasa Lethu scholarships provide access to quality education for children who are Add Hope beneficiaries or whose parents work for KFC. And the Streetwise Academy tackles youth unemployment by supporting young people in getting SETA-accredited qualifications. #Indlala2Dlala #AddHope

Leading the way in digital technology yet again! We congratulate Louise Erasmus, our Procurement Lead, together with her team and colleagues on this prestigious award at the recent CIPS Africa Excellence Awards ceremony. On receiving this award, this is what Louise had to say. “Our decision to enter the awards was driven by our efforts in implementing Infraspeak into our daily business operations. Through a comprehensive case study and creative responses to the judges' questions, we demonstrated how Infraspeak has transformed our procurement processes and elevated collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and our physical assets, such as generators. Out of hundreds of entries from across Africa, we have been chosen to stand among the elite on the shortlist. This recognition speaks volumes about the impact of our innovative approach to procurement and the strides we have made in advancing our profession. It reflects positively on our company's reputation within the industry"

We chase hope, not targets: how we choose our partners. KFC Add Hope partners with more than 130 non-profit organisations to support hungry and malnourished children with 30 million meals a year. These are a mix of organisations with a national footprint and local beneficiaries selected and managed by franchisees keen to have an impact in the communities where they trade. Applicants must be registered NPOs that have operated for at least two years and offer a sustainable feeding programme for children. Funding is provided for a 12-month period and organisations can reapply annually. All beneficiaries must report on their impact and finances up to twice a year to be considered for renewal funding. Beneficiaries – including early childhood development organisations, children’s homes and school feeding programmes – are added every year. Watch this space on 25 June when we release the first KFC Add Hope impact study at GIBS. #AddHope #SocialImpact

We chase hope, not targets: taking accountability. Donations to KFC Add Hope have always been voluntary, and always will be. We chase hope, not targets. Our experience over 15 years has demonstrated the boundless generosity of our customers. As a franchised business with more than 1,100 outlets, we have systems to ensure that our ethos and values are clearly communicated to our franchise partners and their staff. These systems include a whistleblower line that staff can use to report matters of concern. As South Africa’s largest quick-service restaurant brand, with more than 40,000 employees, we encourage our front line staff not only to prompt customers for contributions but to alert us when there is a value disconnect. When mistakes are made, we own them, we apologise, we self-correct – and we strive to keep adding hope for South Africa’s hungry and malnourished children. We will release our first Add Hope impact study on 25 June at GIBS, celebrating 15 years of collaborative impact from customers and KFC. Watch this space. #AddHope #SocialImpact

Did you know that Add Hope matches our guests's R2 contributions? All proceeds go to Add Hope beneficiaries to provide nutritious meals to children in their community. Rohloff Group recently hosted the children from Pebbles Project for an afternoon of fun and games, what an honour to see hope in motion!

Some of our Stellenbosch beneficiaries recently enjoyed a delicious meal, fun activities and spoils at KFC South Africa. The event was an opportunity for the Kfc Stellenbosch staff to meet and interact with the beneficiaries who directly benefit from the Add Hope R2 donations made by customers. Our sincerest thanks to Add Hope and Rohloff Group KFC for their continued support throughout the years.
