Delegação de Angola Participa da 13ª Edição da Conferência e Exposição SARA RAILWAY 2024 A Delegação de Angola, composta pela ANTT, ARCCLA, CFL, CFL e CFM, participa na 13ª edição da Conferência e Exposição SARA RAILWAY 2024. O evento ocorre na África do Sul, de 19 a 22 de Agosto do corrente ano. A conferência SARA RAILWAY reúne anualmente os maiores operadores de transportes ferroviários de África para discutir temas cruciais sobre o desenvolvimento deste subsector. Este ano, a conferência tem como lema “Impulsionar o Comércio Continental Via Ferroviária: Investimentos em Ferrovias Africanas para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável Continental”. A delegação angolana foi representada ao mais alto nível pelo Presidente do Conselho de Administração da ANTT, Énio Costa, em representação de Sua Excia. Sr. Ministro dos Transportes, Dr. Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu. Angola participou na conferência SARA Rail , em Joanesburgo de 19 a 23 de Agosto, onde os corredores ferroviários de Angola estiveram em destaque. Atraindo a atenção de empresas do sector, instituições Públicas e Privadas, desde bancos, operadores ferroviários, reguladores regionais e fornecedores de serviços. Fizeram parte da Delegação Angola as seguintes instituições do Ministério dos Transportes : ANTT.ao , arccla angola, Caminho de Ferro de Moçâmedes-E.P, Caminho de Ferro de Luanda Empresa Publica, CFB-EP, contando também com a participação da Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) . O Stand angolano foi visitado por várias instituições como: PRASA Group , Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) , Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority TAZARA , Nacala Logistics , PADROL LIMITED , Alstom, AARG - All American Rail Group , Lucchini SA , RAILWAY SAFETY REGULATOR, entre outros.

Over the last three days #TeamUK have met several operators from South Africa, Namibia, Eswatini, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, and more. In addition colleagues from Arup Transport Design International and Comms Design have had their own meetings with potential interested parties. The technical assistance package coupled with UKEF support has the potential to open doors for UK suppliers and we will be following up on this over the coming weeks. Huge thanks to Shaan Padayachy Radwa Sultan and all the DBT team for their support and finally thanks to Chimeta Mulambia of Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) who is leading on the research work as part of the overall approach.

I had the honor of being part of a panel discussion at the SARA Rail Conference at the Sandton Convention Centre this week, and it was an invaluable experience. As we explored the evolving landscape of Southern African railways, it became increasingly clear how essential it is to understand and meet the diverse needs of railway customers. During the discussions, I emphasized key priorities: ensuring timely deliveries, upholding the highest safety and security standards, and fostering transparency and flexibility. With the National White Paper and Network Statement opening the rail network to third parties, we’re entering an exciting phase of opportunity and growth. The panel highlighted the importance of proactive communication, integrating customer feedback into design planning, and offering tailored solutions—especially for critical sectors like bulk transport and mining. #SARARail2024 #SARARail #AfricanRailways #GlencoreSA
