Building Australia’s Future: Somerton Intermodal Terminal Takes Shape! 🚧 Concrete pouring is well underway for the capping beam at the Somerton Intermodal Terminal, set to become the largest of its kind in Australia! This concrete will host a 1,690-metre steel gantry rail to streamline container transfers between trains and trucks. Once complete, Somerton will play a crucial role in Melbourne’s Port Rail Shuttle Network, enhancing efficiency in the transport of goods from the Port of Melbourne to warehouses across the region. With a hardstand area equivalent to 12 Melbourne Cricket Grounds, this terminal will be a key node for interstate and regional logistics. At ACCIONA, we are dedicated to creating sustainable infrastructure that supports economic growth while paving the way for a greener future. #IntermodalTerminal #SustainableInfrastructure #Logistics #ACCIONAteam #MelbourneDevelopment

Exciting Progress on the Vic Park Canning Level Crossing Removal Project in Perth Western Australia. The #ACCIONAteam celebrates a major milestone in transforming Perth's south-east suburbs. We've successfully laid 100% of the track for the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project. This ambitious project will remove level crossings, elevate rail, construct five new stations, and create six hectares of vibrant public open space. With new tracks in place and ballast installed, we're 'tamping down' on excellence for the improved Armadale Line. Our tamping process ensures precise rail alignment and foundation specifications, setting the stage for a safer, faster, and more sustainable transport solution. We're on track to open to the community by mid-next year, connecting neighbourhoods and creating a lasting legacy. #SustainableInfrastructure #InvestInThePlanet #ACCIONAteam

Our Coomera Connector Stage 1 North and Hope Island station teams recently held events to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Culture. The cultural events included trivia, sampling a selection of traditional bakery items, and launching the design of the team’s hi-vis Indigenous shirt. Gold coin donations were also collected with team members raising $650 to support Yalari, a local business empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from regional, rural, and remote communities by offering secondary education scholarships. Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Reaches Practical Completion The $160 million upgrade of the Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) on the Gold Coast has officially reached practical completion. The project involved designing and constructing new facilities, including a preliminary treatment area, odour control, bioreactors, and more. As the largest STP on the Gold Coast, servicing 330,000 people, the upgrade ensures the plant can meet the city's growth over the next 10 years. Despite challenges from COVID-19 and wet weather, the team delivered the project with strong safety performance and collaboration with the client. The project engaged over 60 Gold Coast and 150 local businesses, with more than 40% participation from the local region. City of Gold Coast’s former Manager, Asset Solutions, Water and Waste, Christian Truscott, who oversaw client management of the project said "Well done to the project delivery partners for sticking with the project through the pandemic and post pandemic uncertainty. Another fantastic asset delivered for the community of the Gold Coast." ACCIONA's Queensland team is now delivering further works at the Coombabah STP, including a new Preliminary Treatment area due in 2025. #ACCIONAteam #SustainableInfrastructure #GoldCoast #WaterIndustry

Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are essential for large-scale infrastructure projects, playing a key role in building underground tunnels for rail, roads, and utilities with minimal surface disruption. Here’s why TBMs are important: ✔️Precision: TBMs navigate complex underground conditions, creating tunnels with high accuracy. ✔️Efficiency: They can tunnel up to 50 meters per day, helping projects stay on schedule. ✔️Safety: TBMs reduce risks for workers by keeping them out of hazardous conditions. ✔️Sustainability: Modern TBMs are designed to minimise waste and recycle materials, reducing environmental impact. TBMs are transforming transportation and urban development by enabling faster, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure projects. #Infrastructure #Engineering #Tunnelling #Innovation
