16 months of works in one minute. 🏗️🏢 Welcome to SA Power Networks' Seaford Depot, a state-of-the-art operations hub in Adelaide. One of the most significant innovations on this project was BMD’s strategy to reuse site-won material instead of importing fill. Initially, the calcareous layer on-site meant all fill material was set to be brought in. But by collaborating with geotechnical experts and reassessing the design, we proved the existing material could be used while still meeting required compaction levels. This solution delivered cost savings, reduced environmental impact, and allowed the team to reinstate a warehouse previously removed from the design – maximising value for our client. • As part of BMD’s Environment Month, we’re showcasing two Australian first environmental innovations achieved on our Tonkin Gap project in Western Australia. As part of the Tonkin Gap Alliance, our team helped to produced two different types of retaining wall blocks made from recycled construction and demolition waste. 🧱The first type of block was made from incinerator ash aggregate, with each block using enough waste to fill up to 105 regular household bins. 🧱The second type of block recycled a waste material produced when making a concrete additive, used to improve its strength and durability. These recycling innovations, verified by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council, not only reduced the amount of waste going to landfill but also supported local economic development by creating new product industries. #BMD #EnvironmentMonth #Sustainability #Innovation #EnvironmentalExcellence #TonkinGapAlliance #CircularEconomy #Infrastructure #CommunityImpact Main Roads Western Australia Public Transport Authority

  • Finalists - Australian Construction Achievement Award 2025! We are excited to share that our Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project in Perth is a finalist for the 2025 Australian Construction Achievement Award! This award celebrates groundbreaking projects that set new benchmarks in Australia’s construction industry, and we’re honoured to be part of this year’s lineup. Congrats to the BMD Group, together with our project partners ACCIONA AU & NZ, WSP and AECOM. Thanks also to Engineers Australia for this incredible recognition. The METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is a transformative infrastructure initiative that enhances safety, connectivity, and urban development. The project includes six major intersection modifications and the removal of existing level crossings, while five new elevated stations and two bus interchanges, featuring 24 bus stands, will streamline transport services. The construction of four kilometres of elevated rail improves network efficiency, while major utility upgrades and six hectares of landscaped public space create vibrant, accessible community areas. #ACAA2025 #BuildingTheFuture #ProudFinalist #InvestInThePlanet #SustainableInfrastructure

BMD and Enerven warmly welcomed 10 local Indigenous students from Clontarf to the Hydrogen Substation Project in Whyalla yesterday. The day was filled with engaging activities, including a community BBQ and valuable interactions with Indigenous operators on site. Enerven led an insightful tour, explaining how South Australia’s electrical industry operates and showcasing a fully functioning substation adjacent to the project. The visit left a lasting impression. Several students expressed genuine excitement about the possibility of pursuing careers in the industry after such an inspiring experience. This initiative not only provided practical exposure but also ignited new aspirations among the students, promising a brighter future for the industry. EnervenBMD GroupClontarf Foundation

Australia’s largest privately-owned civil contractor, Brisbane-based BMD Group, wants a piece of the action when 2032 Olympics contracts are handed out. BMD Group chief executive Scott Power said it was important that local contractors had a share of the multibillion-dollar Olympic spend, with the Crisafulli government set to reveal the location of the main stadium and other facilities for the Games on March 25. “We would see it as a lost opportunity if more Queensland and Brisbane-based companies didn’t get involved in delivering Olympic infrastructure,” he said. “We’re keen to identify opportunities where we can get involved. The Iona College Brisbane Iona College Old Boys, who completed an engineering degree at QUT (Queensland University of Technology), said BMD would remain a family company, with his brother Dare Power and hi sister Hayley involved in the company’s extensive work with the arts and community groups.

  • BMD has started construction of the Thurra River Bridge project in remote Victoria for Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, setting a solid foundation for the project ahead. Works have involved: 🏗 setting up key equipment, including a crawler crane, drilling rig and piling rig 🦺 building piling pads and started pile installation 🌉 preparing the northern end of the bridge, including earthworks and building a reinforced support wall. This is the BMD way – adapting, overcoming challenges and delivering results for our clients. • Hollow logs now leasing 🦜🐿️ Twelve native hollow logs are now ready for their prospective parrot and possum tenants as part of the Mickleham Road Upgrade – Stage 1, being delivered by BMD Constructions in partnership with Major Road Projects Victoria. BMD engaged Habitat Management Services (HMS) to install the habitat hollows in suitable trees within the project footprint to benefit local residents, such as lorikeets and other parrots, and brushtail and ringtail possums. The hollows are made by HMS from salvaged native logs, modified with recycled plywood and timber, and fixed to trees at heights ranging from three to eight metres. Unlike simple ply nest boxes, the hollows are better at mimicking the natural nesting environment – encouraging their use and offering better insulation, longevity and resistance to weathering. With the hollows being GPS mapped, crews will be able to check in on hollow-dwellers to see how they’re liking their new homes. At BMD, we strive to safeguard and improve the environments we operate in across all of our projects and operations. #BMD #AustralianWildlife #EnvironmentMonth
