Well that was tough! BB300 2024 competed last week. A big thank you to everyone who donated to my fundraising page. This was my second year on the ride. We battled head and crosswinds, and some very heavy rain. I left home at 4am to meet up with the peloton at Perth's Bell Tower in the city. From there we cycled 300km to Bunker Bay arriving late afternoon (yes the same day). Special thanks to all the support crew during the ride and the fabulous cheer squads from the charities we were supporting. Congratulations to the BB300 organizing committee for an amazing day together with an evening of celebration and reflection on what this means for assisting youth mental health. Congratulations to our charity partner 20Talk who premiered their documentary "Break South" in Fremantle this week which was largely sponsored by the proceeds from the BB300 ride this year. The documentary presented the stories of well known surfers like Taj Burrows and their personal journeys with mental health. In particular it directly addresses the sad reality for the community in the South West of WA which has a particularly high rate of suicide among young people. We were moved by the vulnerability shown by each of the extraordinary ordinary athletes interviewed and proud to be associated and support Leighton Bradfield and Lachlan O'Donoghue and their mission to make a difference and change in our world!
