We’re fast-tracking towards the completion of Perth’s first elevated rail by mid-2025 with 100% of the elevated rail structure now installed on the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project. Over 1,000 concrete elements including L-beams, piers and headstocks, have been installed to form more than 4 kilometres of elevated rail between Carlisle and Beckenham. Fast progress is also being made across the five elevated stations and rail installation, with over seven kilometres of track now laid. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the upgrade on the 131-year-old Armadale Line, with the six level crossings only removed late last year. Check out this video to see the incredible progress achieved! 📽: METRONET #BMD #VictoriaParkCanning #METRONET #PerthTransport #Infrastructure #Milestone #ElevatedRail #PublicTransport #Community

Welcoming the next generation to the BMD family! 👷♀️👷 Four young people have successfully completed the first ever BMD Ready program, designed to give our next-generation labour force a foot in the door and support them to start building a rewarding career in civil construction. In partnership with CSQ - Construction Skills Queensland and Civil Train QLD - RTO# 5708, participants were guided through two weeks in a classroom setting where they completed modules on life skills, followed by three weeks of structured workplace learning across our South East Queensland infrastructure projects. After five weeks of working hard, all four participants were offered full-time roles at BMD, because we believe effort leads to excellence. At BMD, we’re committed to powering our people to create legacies, and can’t wait to watch these new BMD employees create theirs. See what the BMD Ready participants – now the new faces of our labour force – have to say about the program and their long-term goals in the industry 👉 https://lnkd.in/gGbgkAWD #workatBMD #BMDready #ourbusinessisourpeople

At BMD, we are committed to fostering a safety culture that strives to achieve health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) excellence. HBMD Urban in South Australia held their HSEQ Training Day to provide our workforce with training and skills across necessary safety procedures. Driven to build awareness around BMD’s field-based safety systems, the team took on training exercises focused on shoring, working near services, people and plant awareness, quality, and environmental and sediment controls. Training days like this play an integral part in BMD commitment to HSEQ Excellence, and we would like to thank the collaboration of our event sponsors in Protech, Coates, ADBRI, Humes - A Division of Holcim Australia, Bianco, Iplex and Civil Contractors Federation SA - CCF SA for providing the catering and necessary training equipment needed to make this event a resounding success!

The final section of the Bruce Highway Upgrade (Cooroy to Curra) Section D, known locally as the Gympie Bypass, will soon be a bustling part of the highway, with the new stretch set to open to traffic over the coming weeks. With the southern half of the project delivered by Bielby Holdings BMD Joint Venture (BBJV), the $1.162 billion project is a new 26 kilometre, four-lane divided highway between the existing Bruce Highway interchange at Woondum, south of Gympie, and Curra. The project delivered 42 bridges constructed at 23 locations along the bypass and has involved significant earthworks with more than six million cubic metres of earth moved to provide flood immunity for a one-in-100-year event. A Community Open Day was held at the new Flood Road interchange in East Deep Creek recently to celebrate the impending completion of the project. Major construction on this project began in October 2020, with completion expected this month (weather and construction conditions permitting). Remaining works include laying pavement, line marking, installing lighting and intelligent transport systems, and adding signage along the corridor. BMD is proud to be involved in the delivery of this project for the Department of Transport and Main Roads, with it representing a major milestone in Queensland’s infrastructure development, enhancing road safety, boosting the local economy, and improving connectivity across the region. At BMD, we are committed to the communities in which we operate, ensuring that our projects not only deliver significant infrastructure improvements but also support local communities and create lasting benefits. #BruceHighwayUpgrade #QueenslandInfrastructure #CommunityCommitment #RoadSafety #LocalEconomy #Connectivity

Getting innovative at Melbourne Water’s Western Treatment Plant! We're hard at work building a new nutrient removal plant that will process 150 million litres of wastewater daily. This upgrade is crucial for keeping Melbourne’s environment and public health standards top-notch. Here are some of the exciting innovations we're bringing to life on the project: 💧 Water-saving testing: our ‘individual joint testing’ method for pipelines is more efficient and uses less water than traditional methods. 🌏 Eco-friendly concrete: by teaming up with designers and concrete plants, we’ve created custom precast panels with high recycled content, keeping performance strong. 🚗 Operating Hyundai Kona electric vehicles onsite: we’ve installed two 40kW charging stations at the site compound, capable of charging all four of our vehicles simultaneously, with the vehicles soon to be charged primarily by renewable energy from Melbourne Water's electricity network, which draws gas from the treatment process. ☀️ Solar-powered lighting: we’ve installed solar light towers to cut down on electricity use and lower our carbon footprint. 🤝 Supporting youth: we set up an onsite cafe with social enterprise Social Engine, offering jobs and training to at-risk youth while keeping our team well fed. ☕ Recycling coffee grounds: we’re collecting coffee grounds from the Social Engine cafe and delivering them to Wormlovers Pty Ltd to be re-used! Find out more about our works at the Western Treatment Plant https://lnkd.in/gfCzyEu2

As a partner of the Queensland Rugby League, BMD is proud to support the growing participation of women in sport with the introduction of two more teams in next year’s BMD Premiership competition! With the upcoming 2025 season marking our fourth year as a partner, we have been fortunate to play a part in strengthening the BMD Premiership, building it from an 8 team to now 12 team competition. This revamped season will run in conjunction with the NRLW competition, providing easier transition between competition, and greater opportunities for pathway players to participate in the BMD Premiership. As Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business in a male dominated industry, we are proud to play a part in powering women’s sport as it goes from strength to strength. The BMD Premiership aligns with our shared vision and objective to improve female participation and pathways in our respective industries, and we look forward to continuing to build a more inclusive future on and off the field.
