Through the support of our community we help deliver exceptional patient care to the Canberra region.

About us

Through local community support the Canberra Hospital Foundation transforms away from bed spaces, purchases state-of-the-art treatment technology and equipment, supports research aimed at improving everyday patient care, and funds therapeutic wellness programs for patients. Every year through Canberra Hospital Foundation, the community donations grant more than 100 funding applications from doctors and nurses to provide extra services, advanced treatments and uplifting environments. Canberra Hospital Foundation also coordinates special hospital visits by sporting teams and celebrities and the distribution of more than 7000 comfort items and 5500 Christmas gifts generously donated through our Donation Station.

  • Have you heart of the Arts in Health Program? 🎨 This program aims to enhance the delivery of health services to the communities of Canberra and surrounding region through the provision of art across Canberra Health Services (CHS) facilities. Caroline McIntyre, the Operations Manager of the Canberra Region Cancer Centre, spoke to Canberra Hospital Foundation about the recently installed artwork in the Radiation Oncology waiting room: "Approximately 200 patients will come to the Department each day, often with family members and carers. In our main waiting room, our patients are now able to appreciate the artwork that was recently installed, and as our patients make their way to the clinic rooms and treatment area they will walk past the artwork, which inspires calm and peacefulness in a busy clinic environment." Thanks to the valuable and important donations from our community, we are able to assist in transforming clinical spaces for patients and their loved ones 💛

  • There is no shortage of heart-warming stories that come our way, thanks to the wonderful in-kind items that are donated to our Donation Station ♥️ When Chris spent a few weeks in the ICU at Canberra Hospital, he felt immense gratitude for the thoughtful items that made his stay a little bit more positive. "He received a National Geographic magazine which included articles about birds (which he loves) and the most gorgeous hand made card from students at Neville Bonner Primary School. It was good to see a smile on Chris's face." said Chris's wife, Valerie.   Thank you to the students of Neville Bonner Primary School who donated these special cards filled with words of encouragement. These cards may be small, but the impact and joy they are able to create is immense! 🌀
