About us

At carsales, we’re all about making buying and selling a great experience. For over 25 years we’ve been evolving with the new economy to help people choose how they move today and tomorrow. We started out with the idea of digitising print classifieds back in 1997 when we thought that ‘this internet thing might actually be starting to take off’. Fast forward to today and we have close to 800 team members across Australia and New Zealand and we’re part of CAR Group - an ASX 100 business and a global leader in digital marketplaces across Oceania, Asia and The Americas. And don’t let our name fool you – we might have the word “car” in there, but we’re about so much more.... When it comes to your career, we want to provide big opportunities to help you make a big impact. But for this to be possible, we strive to feel small. Small enough to quickly change tack, small enough to learn from different departments and small enough to connect authentically with leadership. Not something you’d expect from one of the country’s biggest tech companies, is it? There are a lot of things to love about carsales. Our uniqueness comes from having the rare combination of being able to provide all the benefits of a big tech company – being growth, security and resource – coupled with the feeling of a small organisation, which gives agility, opportunity and autonomy to our people. We’re a place where you can truly move your career forward and we’re proud to offer a dynamic workplace experience which transcends a mere list of perks and benefits. Our people are Software Developers. Engineers. Product Managers. Data Analysts. Designers. Sales, Media and Advertising specialists. Researchers. Customer Service stars. Content Producers. Finance experts. Photographers. Marketing magicians. Legal eagles. And People and Culture peeps.

Last week over 45 members of our software engineering team participated in a Generative AI Prompt Engineering technical workshop hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), which was a follow-up to our in-house Gen AI Day from last month. We love seeing the strong interest from our people to learn more about Gen AI technology. It's one of the ways that we equip them with new capabilities to solve business challenges within their respective product teams, which helps us to accelerate our AI enablement strategy. A big thank you to everyone who participated and asked insightful and challenging questions, our managers for supporting the initiative and giving their team members the time and opportunity to get involved, and the AWS team for hosting and running the session. #wearecarsales #technology #innovation #artificialintelligence #genai

We've reached the final episode of season two of Watts Under the Bonnet! Producer Kelsey Menzies has gone all out, treating Greg Rust & Nadine Armstrong to a buffet of sizzling headlines: rumours swirling around Tesla's shaky brand health, Cadillac dropping an $11k pair of sneakers (yes, really!), and the latest cost-of-living hack—ditching the pro mechanic for a TikTok fix. That’s right - mycar's latest mobility index is out, and the DIY car repair trend is booming! Managing Director Adam Pay drops by to surprise the crew and break down what’s driving folks to take the wrench into their own hands. 🛠 Senior Editor Feann Torr also stops by to give us what’s new on the EV market, including the revival of the Smart car brand. Later, meet mother and son duo Ali and Will Bourke, who have taken EV innovation to the next level – using their MG4 to power a jumping castle. 😲 Link to listen is below ⬇ in the comments. #wearecarsales #EV #electricvehicles #podcast #wutb

This year's "carsales at The Espy" is being touted by many as our best party yet! After our day at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre we headed to the iconic Hotel Esplanade in St Kilda where we took over the whole venue for a night to remember. There was something for everyone with a band, DJ, harpist, trumpeter, photo booth, and even a build-your-own taco bar. 🎶🕺🏻📸🌮 This was such a great opportunity for us to let our hair down and celebrate our achievements - we can't wait for the next one! 🥳 #wearecarsales #team #culture #event #teambuilding

What a day! 🙌 Last week we had our Australian and New Zealand team together in Melbourne for carsales Connects – one of our most anticipated events of the year. After starting the day with an incredible musical display from world renowned Didgeridoo player Ganga Giri and a Welcome to Country from Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Ian Hunter, we got down to business to talk all things leadership. Our team was fortunate to hear from several accomplished and inspiring leaders throughout the day, including a keynote from our Manager Director Paul Barlow followed by a series of panel sessions featuring Tom Harley, Justin Rodski, Katie Hudson, Cameron McIntyre, Greg Roebuck, Pat O'Sullivan and Pip Marlow. A huge thank you to you all for sharing your wisdom and insights with us. 💙 Part two (i.e. the party!) coming soon…. #wearecarsales #team #culture #event #teambuilding

Today is Equal Pay Day. With carsales being a Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice, it’s important to me that we raise awareness and take action on pay equity.  This includes ensuring decisions regarding pay reflect our remuneration principles of fairness, consistency and pay for performance regardless of gender. We know that our median pay gap is impacted by our workforce composition, and this is why we remain so focused on improving gender representation in our business, developing our female talent across the organisation, and building strong pipelines of diverse talent.  I am proud that we foster an environment where diversity is embraced but our work in this space is not done - we will continue to look for ways to champion gender diversity across our business.  #carsales #wgea #equalpayday

Today is Equal Pay Day. Think back to 1 July. That seems like a long time ago now. In fact it’s 50 days. That’s the amount of extra time that women would need to work on average to earn the same amount as men in Australia thanks to the 11.5% gender pay gap. That difference doesn’t add up for many women. Over the past 50 days WGEA has called on employers to take action to reduce the gender pay gap. Last year 55% of employers conducted a gender pay gap analysis to find the drivers behind their gender pay gap. This is something that all employers should do on an annual basis. Of the employers that did the analysis, 60% acted on the results. We know the gender pay gap can be confusing. But it is possible to take action and WGEA can help. WGEA’s Gender Pay Gap Analysis guide can help employers to understand how to conduct this analysis: https://lnkd.in/gnWN5cBb Our Action Planning Tool helps reporting employers to pinpoint areas where they can improve gender equality in their workplace. https://lnkd.in/gGt4YtGX Once you know where your unique areas of disparity are occurring, you can then put together a plan to address each of them. It helps to look for policies and practices around recruitment, promotion and employee assistance when you’re looking for the reasons why women aren’t earning as much as men. WGEA also offers Capacity Building Masterclasses. You can book one today to learn how to find the drivers of the gender pay gap, how to create a gender equality action plan and how to design part-time roles. https://lnkd.in/gTAFT3Nw The time for excuses is over. #endthegenderpaygap #itdoesntaddup #equalpayday #wgea
