⚡Four sustainable hospitals in Tuscany! Webuild’s design of the Four Hospitals in Tuscany project focused on improving sustainability, with each hospital meeting its energy needs through the use of renewable energy resources, such as eco-friendly solar panels and self-sufficient cogeneration plants. Rainwater harvesting systems were incorporated into the water supply for the restrooms and for irrigating the surrounding green areas. The architectural facades were designed to provide optimal thermal and acoustic insulation for the entire structure. Additionally, the four hospitals feature advanced technology and computerisation. 🏗 Did you know? Clough, as part of a joint venture, completed the Cape Lambert Jetty project in 1973, Australia's largest resource marine facility at the time! The scope of work involved constructing a 2,340-metre-long jetty capable of accommodating 100,000 and 150,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) ore carriers simultaneously, as well as loading iron ore at rates of up to 6,000 tonnes per hour. Standing 18.6 metres above the spring low water level, on steel piles driven into the sea floor, Cape Lambert Jetty is one of the tallest jetties in Australia - the height of a six-storey building! In total, the joint venture installed over 10,000 tons of steel piling, 7,000 tons of structural steel, six acres of wooden deck, and even built housing and facilities for workers. The project overcame significant challenges experienced from the remote, cyclone-prone Pilbara location. Cape Lambert Jetty won the Construction Achievement Award in 1973 from the Australian Federation of Construction Contractors. ✨ Good things come in pairs! Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is excited to announce the second tunnel boring machine, TBM Gillian, has officially launched at the North East Link in Melbourne! Both TBMs are now under way, helping excavate the 6.5 kilometre three-lane twin tunnels beneath the city’s northeastern suburbs. The first of the two machines, TBM Zelda, began tunnelling in August 2024. The assembly of these two state-of-the-art TBMs was a highly intricate and detailed effort, led by a skilled team of engineers and construction experts. Each span 15.6 metres in diameter, stretch over 90 metres in length, and weigh more than 4,000 tonnes. 🚛 Truckloads of progress on Project Ceres! Perdaman’s Project Ceres team recently commissioned its own concrete batching plant, which is now ready for full use! The batching plant, which is located on the project site on the Burrup Peninsula, was developed and installed in collaboration with local Pilbara businesses.   The new batching plant has a daily average output capacity of 500m3, and with the help of seven concrete agitator trucks, will supply concrete for a majority of the project, including our project scope of work within the Pilbara Ports Area. Currently, the site team is pouring just over 1,000 cubic meters per week with a target of nearly 3,000 cubic meters per week during peak production.
