About us

Energy Queensland formed in 2016 with the merger of Ergon Energy and Energex, creating a single energy company that powers communities from Tweed Heads up to the Torres Strait and from Brisbane across to Birdsville. Bringing these organisations together is not just about efficiency, but about creating a strong future for the state’s energy system. Energy Queensland provides an opportunity to deliver better outcomes for customers, employees and all Queenslanders, as we effectively manage the state's electricity network and prepare it for the demands of the future. Energy Queensland is finding ways to minimise the impact of electricity network costs on customers, and release funds for better services for all Queenslanders. We also support growth and development of regional Queensland, helping to keep people in local communities. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians and pay our respect to all Elders past, present and emerging on whose land we walk, work and live on, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community.

C-Suite Executive Assistant with over 12 years International and Local experience. Executive Support, Board Support, Project Management, Enhancing Customer and Employee Experience.

✨WHAT IT’S LIKE BEING AN EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT ✨ Being an Executive Assistant is both rewarding and challenging. Every day is different, filled with new tasks that require a combination of organization, adaptability, and problem-solving. Some days can test boundaries & values, then the next will be so rewarding you are reminded of why you love being an EA. It’s a role where you’re not just managing schedules and meetings, but you’re also a key support system (to people and process), ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. We are often the silent hero’s that have multiple magic wands. The rewarding part is knowing that you’re making a real impact. By handling logistics, coordinating with multiple teams, and streamlining communication, you help executives stay focused on big-picture goals. It’s fulfilling to be trusted with so much responsibility and to play an integral role of driving success. But it’s not without its challenges— balancing priorities, adapting to fast-paced changes, and anticipating needs requires quick thinking and RESILIENCE. It’s about staying calm under pressure, juggling multiple tasks, and always being two steps ahead. Some days you get a win and some days you feel like today’s the day you make a career out of baking cakes! Ultimately, being an EA provides a chance to expand abilities, while contributing meaningfully to the success of the team as a whole. You take the good with the bad, the wins with the losses and continue to push ahead towards success. Energy Queensland #worklife #executiveassistant #success

Things have really been moving fast at Gordonvale in Far North Queensland where we've been constructing a 4MW/8MWh network connected battery. It's one of 50 that we're building to help store excess renewable energy produced by solar PV systems during the day and discharge it in the evening when electricity demand is typically higher, smoothing out the electricity demand curve. Construction on this battery started in August and it's nearing completion. the battery is being delivered by GM Energy Storage Glenn Dahlenburg and his team. The cool pictures on the progress are thanks to Cam Laird. #futuregrid #networkbattery

Road trips are a memorable rite of passage for Queenslanders, so our Chair Sarah Zeljko struck a chord when she used that relatable analogy for the renewable energy transition in her keynote speech to the Queensland Energy Club. “The energy transition is often perceived as a long and winding road, on unmarked territory, with planned and unplanned pit stops for a carload of travellers with varying needs and perspectives. “On this journey are the adventurers, the innovators, the planners, the overthinkers, the navigators, the nagging and weary travellers, and some who really didn’t want to leave home in the first place. “At Energy Queensland, we have the rooftop down and we are leaning in all the way,” Sarah said. Through her passionate presentation, 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨: 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙’𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, Sarah sparked some powerful conversations about the challenges, opportunities and innovation required for a successful energy transformation where no one is left behind. There are many moving parts – solar, wind, batteries, electric vehicles, smart meters – and the uncharted territory of AI to consider. “I’m under no illusion that we need to continue doing things better, faster, and in a more collaborative manner," Sarah said. “We need to be brave, take chances, be open to possibilities, all without ever compromising on safety. “Together, we are changing the face of Queensland, in one generation, for our grandchildren and beyond. "So, when are we going to get there? That’s up to all of us.” #energytransition #QueenslandShines #ElectricDreams #solar #batteries #EV #smartmeters

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Energy Queensland and Energex for their unwavering support of Rural Fire Service Queensland. Since the inception of our partnership in 2007, we have consistently received additional equipment that enhances our capability to serve the community. This includes vital resources such as solar power equipment, All Terrain Vehicles, generators, laptops, and printers. This year, we are excited to announce the addition of telescopic link sticks and electrical safety gloves, which will significantly improve safety during electrical incidents. Additionally, life-saving Automated External Defibrillators will be provided to ensure our Brigades are well-equipped. Thanks to the ongoing support from Energy Queensland and Energex, our dedicated #RFSQ volunteer members are equipped with the best tools to effectively carry out their vital work protecting Queenslanders. Our General Manager Design and Engineering Blake Harvey and General Manager Field Delivery Southern Max Hogan presented at the Capricorn Enterprise Major Project and Industry Forum today, explaining how Energy Queensland is supporting the energy transition. It's a massive piece of work that requires us to rethink the energy system to deliver the simplest possible solution that optimises the use of existing assets enabling a renewable energy future. The energy transition must benefit all customers, not just those who are able to install their own rooftop solar and batteries. Our strategy includes energy storage, Dynamic Operating Envelopes, research at our Microgrid and Isolated Systems Test (MIST) Facility, decarbonisation of remote communities and fringe of grid solutions. We're also engaging with communities right across Queensland with the introduction of Local Renewable Energy Zones to allow better utilisation of rooftop solar, energy storage and more electric vehicle charging. #nosolutionwithoutdistribution #QEJP #energytransition
