About us

We are global experts in risk management. If you have problems at either a framework or event level, we have been in your shoes. After many years working across the globe in large complex organisations, we know what needs to be done, and we get it done when others can’t. The harder the challenge, the better. Rather than bringing in an army of consultants, we partner with your internal team. This not only keeps your costs down but develops your people and preserves the learnings in-house, enabling you to manage your risks into the future. Let us do the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. We deliver results quicker, better, and cheaper than others can.

A big congratulations to Bronwyn Friday who has been nominated for the 2024 Risk Engineer Achievement Award. Bron is a true specialist in project and tender risk management, and critical infrastructure risk. She has recently led ERM International's support of the North East Link Program, M80 Alliance tender/establishment, and the Surburban Rail Loop, Work Package D tender. Few people have the unique combination of expertise and experience that Bronwyn can contribute in this field, and we are so proud to see her amazing work recognised. Congrats to Bronwyn and all the other award nominees!! DM Bron or Anthony Reardon if you would like to chat about risk on critical infrastructure projects. https://lnkd.in/gxFyW3Xe #team #awards #riskmanagement #projectrisk #infrastructure Engineers Australia

Let’s talk about risk appetite. In our view, it is central – and essential – to strategic risk management. When the drive to optimise risk is lost, that is when risk often falls into the compliance trap. Without knowing the company’s appetite, how can risk be optimised? With appetite, companies can unlock value across our 3 core tenets: Protect, Anticipate, and Grow. But we know it’s hard to get right. And when it’s not done right, it just feels like more theoretical risk jargon. We’ve been there and we’ve been through it. That’s how we developed our approach, with 3 key stages that are easy to understand. 👉 Swipe through and then follow our page to follow along as we dive into more detail in the coming weeks. Or, DM our director, Anthony Reardon, for an appetite chat. #riskappetite #enterpriserisk #strategicrisk #risk #ermriskappetite

All too often, risk workshops involve a group of SMEs getting together in a room to fill out a register. The focus ends up on process, not risk, and there’s limited discussion or value-add. Luckily, our head of critical infrastructure and resilience, Richard Stanwix, is also an experienced risk workshop facilitator. Last week, he and Anthony Reardon delivered a successful 2-day session with leaders from across one our client's complex operations. The goal was to build a genuine picture of risk management in the field, Instead of gathering everybody around a screen, Richard led a dynamic conversation that gave people the opportunity to feel heard – and to hear others. Here are 4 tips from Richard for optimising risk workshop outcomes: ➡️ 1. Help everyone understand the SO WHAT from the start. Tell people how their contributions will be used and why they're important. ➡️ 2. Allow people TIME TO TALK. You've made the effort to get everyone together, so you want to get the benefits! Facilitating natural - but structured - conversations helps siloed teams to share information and enables attendees to reflect more deeply on their everyday tasks. ➡️ 3. Get PEOPLE MOVING around a room. Make the session interactive by asking attendees to engage with wall artefacts and whiteboards to encourage brainstorming among cross-functional teams. ➡️ 4. USE STORYTELLING to bring risk concepts to life. Believe it or not, risk doesn't have to be boring! Relate risk theory to the real-world by sharing practical applications and previous experience. In an added bonus for our ERM team, they were lucky enough to spot a few local dolphins on their way into the workshop (thanks Western Australia)! DM Anthony or Richard for a chat about running risk workshops in your business. #riskworkshops #enterpriserisk #riskmanagement

Do you want risk management to help you see around corners? Check out some practical tips we’ve learned for how to manage emerging risks. 👇🏻 Board members recently told us: “We hadn’t considered applying this type of risk-based approach to emerging opportunities before. It was really insightful and valuable.” “I’m so pleased to see a different approach beyond the traditional ‘operational threat’ lens.” Keen to chat? Anthony Reardon and Rob Jack were blown away by the size of these wind turbine blades, which made a perfect backdrop for a recent emerging risk workshop. While working with board and executive to help them anticipate and prepare for emerging risks – both threats and opportunities – relevant for their forward-facing strategy, we were pleased to also have the chance to inspect some infrastructure and level up our own skills in renewables last month. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more about how we have been helping clients to evaluate and understand their diverse emerging opportunities in clean energy and far beyond. #risk #strategicrisk #emergingrisks #blackswan #cleanenergy #renewables

Our director Anthony Reardon stopped off to see some sights after presenting at a resources industry conference and meeting some of our clients in Toronto, Canada last week. The Mining Security Working Group event brought together risk and related professionals from around the world working to improve risk outcomes for the sector and its people. We loved having the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of some of the challenges that these companies face, especially when operating in remote or more volatile parts of the world. When listening to deep experts talk in detail about their very real, and very big, challenges, it struck us that there is an overarching challenge: how to help executives at the top of a company give the right amount of focus, when these risks are one thing among many they have on their plate. And, ultimately, we feel that is what risk can help companies to do. Anthony spoke to conference attendees about the kinds of insights that risk might be able to help them extract from their business. And how they might be able to implement those processes in their business to provide aggregate risk intelligence for executives and boards. Thanks for the opportunity Canada! We hope to be back on your shores again soon!! #enterpriserisk #riskmanagement #mining #riskintelligence
