Joining the awards season buzz, Foolscap's ANZ Museum project has been shortlisted for the Design Institute of Australia Awards. Dissolving the usual categories, these awards recognise the most nuanced design thinking across all types of spaces. Our team are honoured to have been recognised alongside other incredible Australian projects.

Associate Director Renae Tapley speaking as part of Fremantle Design Week. We were honoured to be invited to discuss ideas alongside urban designer Dr Anthony Duckworth, film maker Liam Young, and creative Whadjuk Noongar cultural consultant Sandra Harben. Posited with the question "what is good design?", the panel provided a thought-provoking conversation surrounding themes of nature, regeneration, and next steps. An inspiring afternoon with great minds. Thank you for having us Fremantle Design Week. Photo: Dan MacBride

Visitors at our Melbourne/Naarm studio are greeted by Marta Figueiredo's stunning Prima Familia Totems. Marta is an Australian-Portuguese architect and multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans speculative furniture design, installation, and public art. Her expressive tactile sculptures play with human form, scale, texture and colour; the wool giving them warmth and their bright colours a personality encouraging an animated conversation. Pop in for a coffee and let them brighten your day 🌞

This Friday, Foolscap Studio presents as part of A New Normal Perth's sold out event at Fremantle Design Week. We will be pitching a collaborative idea conceptualised in partnership with Circular Design Thinking and REVERT GROUP. Finding Infinity's A New Normal invites leading WA architects to conceive pilot local projects to show the possibilities of a carbon-positive state. After being involved in the Victorian ANN initiative in 2021 and exploring concepts around electrifying the rail system, our team have been building upon ongoing exploration around circularity and waste generated - in particular by the construction industry. After many workshops, meetings and discussions, we are very excited to share our ideas. Let's transform greater Perth from a consumer to a producer.

#FoolscapProjects | The first to adopt the standing-room only format in Melbourne, Patricia Coffee Brewers was heavily inspired by the espresso bars of Italy. The space is adorned with marble bench tops, brass detailing, and dark stained timber joinery by local craftsman Kyran Starcevich of The Makery Club. These honest materials give the space a feeling of timelessness, simplicity, and charm. Photo: Letícia Almeida

Have you met Ellen? Leading our Surry Hills studio, Ellen is a Sydney local who's spent considerable time honing her sophisticated design ethos in Norway. With a background in architecture, hospitality, and residential projects, Ellen shines best when collaborating with local makers to produce standout pieces for quality spaces. Got an exciting idea for a project? Drop us a line for a coffee - we're a 2 minute walk from Central Station ☕️

Nestled in Melbourne's legal precinct, Patricia Coffee Brewers has been the locals' favourite since 2011. One of Foolscap's early projects, Patricia's timeless interior has stood strong and acted as a sturdy foundation for the brand to grow from. Photo: Ben Glezer

As a team full of foodies, we all agreed when designing Milieu Property's Brunswick East apartments that the heart of any home is the kitchen. From here, we conceptualised the guiding principle of Homes For Hospitality; designing homes well-suited to hosting, no matter how big or small. Inspiration was taken from commercial hospitality settings, such as the chef's mirror stainless steel splashback. Every element of the design was optimised to ensure an ease and flow while preparing for the best dinner party yet. Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country Photo: Ben Moynihan
