IWD25 – Accelerating change for equity in STEAM starts with working together. We are proud to stand with partners like The Smith Family, helping to open doors for students like Alexandra through tertiary STEAM scholarships and expanding the impact of their Learning for Life program. Together, we are ensuring that talent and potential, not location, finances, or systemic barriers, determine the future of STEAM. A special shoutout to our incredible partners, whom we support in furthering their focus on gender equity in STEAM education: University of Canterbury, Conestoga College, University of Guelph, Université Laval, Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST), Techbridge Girls, BAFTX, Teach For Australia, The University of Queensland and The Australian National University. This #InternationalWomensDay we celebrate the strength, innovation and leadership of women and girls, and the power of collective action to accelerate meaningful change. #IWD2025 #EquityInSTEAM #AccelerateAction https://lnkd.in/gZbuDbKu
🌱💡 This International Women's Day, we’re celebrating Alexandra—a trailblazer in plant ecology and a proud alumna of The Smith Family. From being a student in our Learning for Life program to earning a PhD in plant ecology, Alexandra’s journey has come full circle. Today, she’s a research fellow working on community-based reforestation projects. But she’s also giving back—volunteering at a Learning Club and sponsoring a student, ensuring others have the same opportunities she did. "I wanted to do it not because I owed The Smith Family anything, because I genuinely believe in that ethos of providing equal opportunity through education. I believe it’s worth investing in. It had such a positive impact on my life." Alexandra knows first-hand the power of support and belief in a student’s potential. This #IWD, we celebrate her achievements and her commitment to the next generation. 💜 #InternationalWomensDay #LearnTodayChangeTomorrow Image credit: The Australian Financial Review

We are honored to continue our partnership with @Berry College in fostering inclusion and diversity. Earlier this year, we co-hosted civil rights icon Ruby Bridges on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, coinciding with the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. This event launched Berry College’s "Be Love Week," inspiring community service across Rome, Georgia. In that spirit, several GHD team members volunteered at service sites in North Georgia. A huge thank you to our GHD representatives—Peter Capponi, Steven Davie, Samreen Kidwai, Garrett Skinner, PMP, CFM, Robert Davis, P.E., Penny Harrold, John DiZinno, Jasmine Walker, Haikal Cooper, and Grace Pleasant—for their dedication. We look forward to continuing our work with Berry College in driving positive change. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eyZqqBw5. #GHDFoundation #InclusionAndDiversity #BerryCollege

Talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn’t always accessible. Young women and girls bring ingenuity, resilience, and fresh perspectives to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). At GHD Foundation, we support our incredible partners including Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST), Techbridge Girls and Teach For Australia, who are creating real pathways for women and girls in STEAM—whether through mentorship, hands-on learning, or scholarships that increase access, expand networks, and open doors to new possibilities. On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate not only the brilliance, perseverance, and impact of young women shaping the future but also the educators, mentors, and organisations working alongside them to make STEAM more inclusive for all. A big shout out to Teach For Australia for this fantastic Q+A with one of the female STEM teachers our Foundation is able to support this year. https://lnkd.in/gPxp3gCB #STEAMequity #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience #GHDFoundation
⭐🚀Celebrating women teaching STEM! 🔬⭐ Today is the #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInSTEM and we’re championing some of the incredible women who are bringing their passion for the sciences into the classroom, to inspire the next generation. First up, we have Yazmen Eltabbal from our new Cohort 2025, who can't wait to bring her perspectives and knowledge into the classroom - including her love for animals🦈 'A minority within a minority,' in her own words, Yaz knows the power in being a #STEMRoleModel for women and girls - her mum is her inspiration and now she is following in her footsteps, set to make a difference and continue inspiring young people through teaching. We are so excited to see where Yaz goes and stay tuned for more #STEMStories. Applications for the 2026 Leadership Development Program open next week! Today, 24 January marks International Day of Education – a day recognised by the United Nations in celebration of the role of education for peace and development and for building sustainable and resilient societies. This day is significant to us because of our mission to help develop resilient communities globally, which is reflected in our focus of advancing equitable access to quality Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. Our redefined STEAM priority areas centralise around Teacher Capacity Development, Primary School Programs and Scholarships and Bursaries. Zeena Abdelbasit , a GHD Foundation bursary recipient who now works at GHD full time as an Engineering graduate in the Air Quality Group in the Waterloo office says, “When I received the bursary from the GHD Foundation, the financial support it provided allowed me to focus more on my studies and extracurricular activities and give back to my community. As a woman in engineering, I face systematic challenges in pursuing my career goals – however this award provided me with hope and encouragement about diversity in STEAM fields.” Let’s keep working together to create resilient communities for a more diverse workforce of the future. #InternationalDayofEducation #GHDFoundation #Impactroadmap
