Today, 24 January marks International Day of Education – a day recognised by the United Nations in celebration of the role of education for peace and development and for building sustainable and resilient societies. This day is significant to us because of our mission to help develop resilient communities globally, which is reflected in our focus of advancing equitable access to quality Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. Our redefined STEAM priority areas centralise around Teacher Capacity Development, Primary School Programs and Scholarships and Bursaries. Zeena Abdelbasit , a GHD Foundation bursary recipient who now works at GHD full time as an Engineering graduate in the Air Quality Group in the Waterloo office says, “When I received the bursary from the GHD Foundation, the financial support it provided allowed me to focus more on my studies and extracurricular activities and give back to my community. As a woman in engineering, I face systematic challenges in pursuing my career goals – however this award provided me with hope and encouragement about diversity in STEAM fields.” Let’s keep working together to create resilient communities for a more diverse workforce of the future. #InternationalDayofEducation #GHDFoundation #Impactroadmap  

We are honored to join Berry College in welcoming the iconic Ruby Bridges as part of the Conson Wilson Lecture Series. Ms. Bridges was one of the first Black students to integrate into an all-white elementary school in 1960. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect. 🌟 Happy National STEM Day!🌟 Today, we celebrate the transformative power of STEM education and the boundless potential it creates. National STEM Day is dedicated to inspiring young minds to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—fields that drive innovation and shape our future. At GHD Foundation, we’re passionate about widening access to STEM opportunities for students from all walks of life. Through our partnerships, we aim to help break down barriers and support the next generation of innovators, creators, and leaders.   Our partnership with the British American Foundation of Texas (BAFTX) is a great example of this mission in action. With over 1,200 scholarships awarded to underrepresented students—totaling $2.8 million—BAFTX is truly empowering young people to reach their dreams and gain enriching cultural experiences.    It was an honor to support their annual fundraising event last Saturday and meet some of the inspiring scholars who volunteered to pay it forward by helping raise funds for the next wave of  STEM dreamers.   Here’s to every student, dreamer, and change-maker who’s shaping our future through STEM! #NationalSTEMDay #GHDFoundation #STEMeducation #BAFTX #TheFutureIsBright

GHD Foundation: Empowering Girls in STEAM on International Day of the Girl Child - October 11th On 11 October, we commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to recognizing the immense potential of girls worldwide. The GHD Foundation is proud to support this cause by providing educational grants to underrepresented groups in STEAM, including women and girls. This year, some of our grants are specifically aimed at fostering the growth of girls in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) across Australia, Canada and the USA. These grants are not just financial support, they represent a larger investment in the future of our communities. By enabling access to quality education and resources, we are helping to break down barriers and create opportunities for girls to excel in STEAM fields. The intended impact of our grants is to empower girls to pursue their passions, develop critical thinking skills, and become the innovators, leaders, and visionaries of tomorrow.
