High temperatures, severe storms, torrential rainfall and strong winds have frequented the eastern and western seaboards, causing delays in construction projects. In this article, Helena Golovanoff and Krishneel Kumar set out key things to keep in mind when negotiating inclement weather provisions in your contract including: • contractual definitions of inclement weather and their subjectivity • what relief for inclement weather should be included in your contract • ‘force majeure’ provisions Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g9nkwAgK #ConstructionLaw #Contracts #ForceMajeure #LegalInsights #ConstructionIndustry #ProjectDelays

At this year’s Accounting Conference & Expo, Holding Redlich Partner Jessica Tsiakis will provide insights into the recent amendments to Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and what they mean for accountants. Under the new legislation, accountants providing designated services will be considered ‘reporting entities’ and must actively identify potential money laundering and terrorist financing activities through stricter client due diligence, risk assessments, and reporting obligations. Compliance with these requirements will be mandatory from 1 July 2026. This session will provide practical guidance on when and how the new regime applies to accountants and what is required to ensure compliance. This INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (MARCH 8), we hosted a powerful discussion with four inspiring women leaders in our firm: Partners Elly Ashley, Jessica Tsiakis, and Kirsty Smith, alongside National Precedents Manager Nicki Greenberg, moderated by Special Counsel Helen Sims. Our panel shared insights on leadership, career growth, and balancing personal and professional lives. Key takeaways: • opportunities are meant to be taken - step forward with confidence, and once you're in the room, make your voice count • a strong support network - whether mentors, colleagues, or family - plays a critical role in career progression and resilience • flexibility is essential - when it's reduced, women are often the first impacted, making it harder to remain and advance in the workplace • leadership isn't about titles - it's about authenticity, trust, and ensuring all voices are heard and valued • imposter syndrome is a challenge many face - recognising your worth and acknowledging your achievements is key to overcoming it • work-life balance isn't about perfection - it's about making time for passions outside of work, while building trust in your team and adjusting as needed. This year's theme, #AccelerateAction, reminds us that gender equality requires collective effort. It's about ensuring women aren't just in the room but are actively supported to lead. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025 #WomenInLaw #Leadership #Equity #HoldingRedlich

The National Anti-Corruption Commission announces it will investigate the 6 referrals stemming from the Robodebt Royal Commission. Although the NACC initially opposed a corruption investigation into the referrals made in the Royal Commission's final report on the scheme, recent findings by a NACC investigator revealed that current head of the NACC and former NSW Court of Appeal Judge, Paul Brereton AM RFD SC, unintentionally engaged in 'official misconduct'. The investigation will determine whether any public officials or associated individuals breached public trust, misused their office or engaged in misconduct related to the Robodebt Scheme.
