Our CEO, Holly Hunt, recently posted about an encounter she had with 'Mark' (head over to her LinkedIn page to check it out!). Mark had just finished up a high pressure role, with a high growth company. He was exhausted. Despite the huge bonuses, accolades and achievements, he was no longer fulfilled by the role. In fact, he was completely burnt out, unhealthy and unhappy. And the search for a new role began. But it wasn't all sunshine and lollipops, with his burnout coming through during his interviews. And after one rejection too many, he decided enough was enough. He metaphorically took a nap on his job search and just get his mojo back. And, after taking the time to realise what he was after, a role came and found him. What followed were many comments from others who were also 'Mark'. And it got us thinking that amid the ‘quiet quitting’ trend, we are seeing a transformative shift among business leaders. This shift is reshaping the tech recruitment landscape in several ways. #Brisbane officially ranked in top 40 emerging ecosystems globally 🚀 #GSER2024 Exciting news from the launch of London Tech Week this week: Brisbane is now in the top 40 emerging startup ecosystems in the world. Start Genome released its annual report on the state of startup ecosystems worldwide, in which it analysed 4.5 million startups across 300 global ecosystems. Here are a few Brisbane startup stats over the past two years: - Total startup ecosystem value - $10.8b - Ecosystem value growth compared with prior 2y period - 81% - Early stage funding - $410m - Median Seed round - $775k - Median Series A - $5.5m - Total VC funding - $1.8b What does this mean for the executive tech talent roles in Brisbane, and further across Australia? Finding and retaining the right talent continues to be difficult, and rapid acceleration of global digital transformation has vastly increased demand for core roles. The key for both startups and the bigger tech companies across Brisbane and Australia will be to craft life-changing human connections, build meaningful relationships, and look to source true creativity.
