The new vessel, built by our partners at Snow & Company, Inc, will help PNNL sustainably expand its research activities in the Sequim Bay region of Washington state and offers exceptional capability for a vessel of its size. RV Resilience’s main deck is equipped with an A-Frame, boom crane and movable davit in addition to a foldable swim platform while the vessel is capable of speeds of up to 23 knots on its main engines, and can quickly transition to a silent, all-electric mode capable of speeds of up to 7 knots. Incat Crowther has successfully integrated the latest battery technology into a fleet of new hybrid high-speed ferries for Italian operator Liberty Lines, delivering outstanding performance while complying with all regulatory requirements. The photo below shows the battery room onboard Vittorio Morace. The first two vessels in a fleet of twelve, Vittorio Morace and HSC Cristina M, recently exceeded expectations during sea trials, achieving sprint speeds of 33 knots and are now in service. These vessels feature a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system, allowing zero-emissions port operations. When operating in hybrid propulsion mode, the vessels can reach high speeds while also recharging their batteries via the two main engines. Designed to enable conversion to hydrogen consumption in the future, these future-focused vessels are a great example of sustainable solutions in the maritime industry. Incat Crowther is wishing luck to Jim Colley (right) – a junior engineer here at Incat Crowther before commencing his full-time Paris 2024 Olympic campaign. Jim is competing in the Men's 49er skiff at the Paris Olympics, with the regatta currently underway in Marseille. Jim is making his Olympic debut as the skipper, alongside Shaun Connor, and has shown tremendous skill and determination. After a solid start, they are currently 15th in the standings with several more races ahead before the regatta concludes. NEWS: Margarita Salas, an innovative, new Ro-Pax fast ferry designed by Incat Crowther and built by Astilleros Armon for Spanish operator Baleària, has successfully completed sea trials and will soon enter service. Capable of transporting 1,200 passenger and 450 vehicles at speeds of up to 35 knots, the new 123-metre vessel will provide a daily service between Barcelona and the Balearic Islands of Mallorca and Menorca. Margarita Salas has been modelled on its sister vessel Eleanor Roosevelt, however Margarita Salas includes a range of new design features including an additional passenger deck with spacious lounge area and an expanded aft terrace with an outdoor bar. The vessel’s dual-fuel LNG engines provide the ability to operate for approximately 470 miles (756 kilometres) on gas. Margarita Salas is also designed for a sustainable future and can consume 100% biomethane and mixtures of up to 25% green hydrogen, making it a versatile and sustainable addition to Baleària's fleet. UNDER CONSTRUCTION: Construction of the fleet of new 60-metre ABS-Classed monohull fast support intervention vessels (FSIV) Incat Crowther has designed for Zamil Offshore Services Company is progressing well. Shipbuilder Lita Ocean has shared the images below of Zamil 80, Zamil 81 and Zamil 82 from their Singaporean shipyard. When complete the new vessels will be capable of providing a full load service speed of 25 knots. Each vessel will also feature business-class seating for 60 service personnel in a spacious passenger lounge, as well as three bathrooms, an office, snack bar and well-equipped medical bay. Watch Vittorio Morace, the new high-speed hybrid fast ferry that Incat Crowther designed and ARMON SHIPYARDS has built for Italian ferry operator Liberty Lines, in action during recent sea trials. Vittorio Morace exceeded expectations during sea trials and will soon enter service alongside HSC Cristina M operating on Liberty Lines’ popular routes between Sicily and nearby islands in Italy. Vittorio Morace and HSC Cristina M are the first two vessels in a fleet of 12 that Liberty Lines has commissioned. Each vessel is designed to transport up to 251 passengers, and is equipped with an integrated hybrid propulsion system that allows it to enter and exit port in a zero-emissions mode at speeds of up to eight knots.
