Meet Ayu, our Lab Technician at our Processing Plant. "OBM is a great place to upskill, I have been able to learn and progress during my time here. I first started in March 2022 as a Lab Technician. The working environment at OBM is fantastic with a very supportive Management team. I am very grateful to be a part of the OBM team and am excited to continue to progress within the processing department. I enjoy working at OBM because of the people. I work in the best team ever! I really enjoy my job because I am surrounded by beautiful people. I am a part of a great team who are awesome to work with. While I have been working as a Lab Tech, I have been able to grow and develop to learn more about processing, tanks and the gold room. My role as a Lab Technician is the day to day taking and pressing of the samples, reading the gold room and tanks samples, sizing and many more. Because my role includes working by myself in the lab, safety is a fundamental part of my job. It is the OBM value that resonates most with me in my day-to-day. I ensure that I focus on Targeting Zero Harm in every task I do. It is also important with my team, that everyone look's after everyone, to ensure everyone is safe all the time."

Meet Harry, our Mechanical Fitter Apprentice who joined OBM at the start of this year! "Before I joined OBM I was set on obtaining an apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter. After working with a couple mechanical fitters in my past FIFO career, they really sold me on the role, so once I finally obtained an apprenticeship with OBM I was stoked! I wanted to join a company that could provide a structured environment for growth, learning, and professional development, along with benefits of stability which is what OBM has provided me in my time here.    I enjoy the culture and team I have around me, as well as my role as an apprentice at OBM. My apprenticeship at Ora Banda Mining has offered a unique blend of hands-on learning and practical experience, allowing myself to acquire valuable skills while working alongside experienced professionals. This real-world exposure not only enhances my knowledge but also provides a platform to apply theoretical concepts in a professional setting. Additionally, the mentorship I have received during my apprenticeship here at OBM fosters personal growth and professional development, creating a supportive environment for learning and skill development.   The OBM value that resonates most with me is: We Target Zero Harm. Within my role, doing a job safely ensures myself and the team all go home healthy and happy at the end of the day."

Meet Dominic, pictured on the right at our Riverina underground mine. ‘Hello, my name is Dominic, and I am one of the Mine Geologists at Ora Banda’s Riverina Project. I joined the team at an exciting and early period in the mine’s life, assisting in the mine’s first development level and stope to currently, where it contains multiple ore drives down two separate declines. I truly believe that this success has been due, both to our experienced dynamic technical team and the diligent operators employed by Byrnecut, our mining services partner. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to embark on my career in such an exceptional environment.   I am currently responsible for managing the day-to-day responsibilities of underground mining, monitoring our active ore drives and stopes, to predicting their future progression. When I am not underground, I am assisting in the modelling of Riverina in 3D, to enable a stronger understanding of the ore bodies and what they have in store for us.   I am really looking forward to the future development of our mine, as our ore bodies show a consistent continuity at depth. There is never a dull moment on site and it always brings a smile to my face when I am able to extract free fold from the lodes.’

Luke Creagh, Andy Czerw, Rhianna Farrell and Mick Horrigan along with the Riverina UG site team had the pleasure of hosting 21 Diggers and Dealers delegates on a compact tour of OBM’s Riverina Underground mine. It was a military style operation to induct, kit up and transport all 21 visitors underground on the tour of Riverina. We were pleased to be able to showcase our teams work and provide an insight into our plans to deliver on the Drive to 150!
