Our safety team collaborated with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and our construction partners (Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C, M80 Ring Road Completion and Eastern Freeway Upgrade) to provide an awareness session promoting effective heavy vehicle management across the North East Link (NEL). More than 80 transport and heavy vehicle operators and stakeholders attended the session, which created an efficient platform for industry-wide consultation. Attendees were able to foster valuable relationships and participate in discussions that will drive improvements in safety and efficiency project-wide, in line with North East Links vision to leave our industry better than we found it and making our roads safer and more reliable for all Victorians. A big thank you to everyone who attended, for their contributions to the National Heavy Vehicle industry and the NEL! Jane Naughtin, Sally Clearihan, Karen Bow

About us
Major Road Projects Victoria is the organisation behind the State’s biggest and most important road projects. As a cornerstone of Victoria’s Big Build, we’re constructing the North East Link and West Gate Tunnel that will change the face of our transport network. We’re also delivering a host of essential projects across metropolitan and regional Victoria to reduce traffic congestion, connect communities and make our roads safer for all users. As a dedicated centre for excellence for road project delivery, our work goes far beyond the tunnels, freeways, bridges and extra lanes, with a focus on leaving a legacy that benefits communities for generations to come. We provide sustainable employment and supply chain opportunities for some of Victoria’s most disadvantaged groups and partner with all sections of the construction industry to drive an increase in the use of recycled materials. We’re getting ready to start work on the second stage of the Barwon Heads Road Upgrade. Early works will begin next year, with major works set to start in late 2025. 🏗️🚦 The Barwon Heads Road Upgrade – Stage 2 will add lanes, upgrade intersections, and build shared walking and cycling paths between the fast-growing Geelong suburbs of Charlemont and Armstrong Creek. Stretching 4km, it will extend the benefits of Stage 1, which we completed between Belmont and Charlemont last year. ✅ For project updates go to: https://bit.ly/4dGuKic #Construction #Roads #RoadSafety #RoadUpgrades #Infrastructure City of Greater Geelong

Victoria's investment in transport infrastructure projects provides a powerful opportunity to create social and sustainable change. By leveraging government’s buying power, we can significantly increase job opportunities for priority job seekers. The concept is simple, but without guidance and support, its full impact won't be realised. MRPV has launched a social procurement online resource and has a dedicated team that do a range of things to help us transform investment into social impact. This includes: ✅ Offering dedicated support to industry partners ✅ Creating collaboration opportunities ✅ Empowering Aboriginal businesses and communities ✅ Providing employment opportunities for women ✅ Enhancing supply chain capacity ✅ Fostering strategic partnerships ✅ Supporting priority jobseekers Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gvF6RHp3 and by watching the video featuring Duncan Elliott, Alexis Davison, Phillip Jackson, Sally Caruana, MBA, Sheforce Recruitment & Labour Hire, Negri Contractors, Rosalie Bennett, West Gate Tunnel Project, Nicholas Newby, BMD Group, Rachael Lee, Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C, North East Link Thank you to everyone who took part.

In last month’s Roads & Infrastructure Australia magazine, Katrina Rio, MRPV, Director of Social Value and Inclusion, joined Amarapave’s Field Director, Ash MacMahon and Managing Director Jenika S. to talk about breaking down stereotypes and promoting gender equality in the civil construction industry. Amarapave, a social enterprise, are aiming to break down barriers, bridge gaps, create role models and empower under-represented individuals to thrive and succeed in the asphalt sector. MRPV, in collaboration with the Victorian National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC VICTORIA), has recently published the MRPV Roadmap Towards Gender Equity 2024-2027: https://lnkd.in/gNRaiH6V which highlights the importance of recognising gender equity as a safety priority in hopes to prompt industry-wide collaboration, and enhance gender diversity in leadership. Through the MRPV Roadmap Towards Gender Equity and the minimum standards and requirements, the State Government supports organisations like Amarapave in creating a more inclusive industry. Major Road Projects Victoria and Seymour Whyte have switched over to a hydrogen-powered Clyde Road Upgrade project site! The hydrogen generator utilises hydrogen within the fuel cell to recharge a 100 kVa battery, emitting no carbon and only deionised water. This hybrid fuel cell and battery technology will help to ensure minimal energy is wasted in the system, with an expected saving of 5,000 litres of diesel across the eight-week trial. City of Casey
