Composting Heroes in action at SOILCO’s Tweed Organics Processing Facility!   We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate #NationalRecyclingWeek than by hosting guided tours of our facilities. Our guests at Tweed yesterday included passionate councils, expert consultants and industry regulators, all keen to better understand and see our operations in person.   At Tweed, we showcase how even a modest footprint can achieve big results with the right technology. Our visitors watched as FOGO arrived in council collection vehicles, moved through a first-stage decontamination process, and then entered our fully enclosed in-vessel composting tunnels. After composting, our products go through additional screening and decontamination processes before being matured into nutrient-rich, life-giving soil ready for our customers.   Thank you to everyone who joined us! National Recycling Week is nearly upon us, and SOILCO is taking the opportunity to encourage everyone to #JoinTheCycle and become Composting Heroes!     From November 11-17, #NationalRecyclingWeek shines a spotlight on simple, impactful ways to reduce our environmental footprint and prevent waste.     Did you know that food waste costs Australia $36.6 billion each year and accounts for 7.6 million tonnes of waste? Households alone contribute 2.5 million tonnes of food waste annually, much of which is compostable.    Composting food and garden scraps, whether at home or through organics processing facilities, helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enriches our soil, and is one of the most effective ways households can combat climate change.     We look forward to welcoming the community, our council partners and stakeholders to our facilities next week, and to celebrating National Recycling Week with the broader industry. The latest addition to SOILCO’s commercial food organics collection fleet has just landed and will be on the road servicing customers soon!   Catering to a diverse range of clients - from local cafes to multinational fast-food chains, this is the third vehicle in SOILCO’s expanding commercial food organics fleet. At SOILCO, we recognise the importance of education and collaboration in the circular economy. This week, we were thrilled to host a group of students from the University of Wollongong, who are currently studying ‘The Future of Food’. This subject delves into the environmental, political, and economic impacts of landfill, making these students keenly aware of the importance of organics recycling.   During the tour, we provided an in-depth look at our processes and discussed how compost enriches our soils and benefits our communities. On Saturday, SOILCO joined in the fun at the Shoalhaven Rugby Club Sponsors Day! Meet the Team!   Scott McClelland joined SOILCO in April ’21 as Team Leader at our Tweed Organics Processing Facility (OPF).   In this role, Scott oversees the daily operations of the site, working to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers in the Northern Rivers. Scott's leadership and dedication make him a valuable member of our team.   In his spare time, you’ll find Scott playing baseball or out riding his Harley Davidson.

This month we proudly celebrated 10 years of service for three exceptional members of the SOILCO team: Lance Sippl, Sharon Kemp, and Beau Castledine.   This trio’s commitment and effort in our finance and operational teams have played a crucial role in growing our company’s footprint and expanding our service offerings for our customers.
