Last week, Star Scientific had the privilege of visiting Stade, Germany, where we had the opportunity to present our HERO® technology at the CCI Stade for the Elbe-Weser-Region. Stade is taking incredible steps toward developing a sustainable hydrogen economy. One of the most inspiring takeaways was learning more about H2.N.O.N’s efforts to designate Northeast Lower Saxony as a high-potential region capable of covering the entire green hydrogen value chain. This development showcases how local economies can drive large-scale change in renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. Thank you to everyone involved in Stade for the valuable discussions and shared vision in advancing green hydrogen. Special thanks to Hubert Buehne for organising the visit, CEO Chamber of Industry and Commerce Elbe-Weser Christoph von Speßhardt, Vivien Dirksen for presenting H2.N.O.N - Wasserstoffnetzwerk-Nordostniedersachsen, and Stephan Engel & Matthias Bunzel for presenting more details on the region. #HydrogenEconomy #GreenHydrogen #SustainableEnergy #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability

Star Scientific Limited was very lucky to attend a German trade mission this week, organised by the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and hosted by Germany Trade & Invest. It was an excellent fact-finding mission on Germany's energy transition, with special emphasis on #Hydrogen. Highlights included Brainergy Park Jülich GmbH in North Rhine-Westphalia where we saw a concentrated solar array making SAF, former open-cut coal mines being transformed into tourist lakes in Saxony-Anhalt and the Lusatia region of Brandenburg-Saxony, the Wilo Group campus at Dortmund, with its on-site H2 production and use system, the Lena chemical park in Saxony, the Shwarze Pumpe industrial park near Cottbus, the very interesting Wankel SuperTec R&D Lab at Cottbus, where they are experimenting with H2 as a fuel for the world famous rotary engine and the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (Brandenberg Technical University) where I had a fascinating discussion with academics about the social impacts of the energy transition in the former East Germany. Of course I had plenty of opportunities to talk about Star Scientific and our HERO technology. Thank you especially to the Federal German Government and the State Governments of North-Rhine Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Brandenburg.

Star Scientific Limited today presented at the Hydrogen Asia Summit 2024 (Singapore). As well as introducing the delegates to our ground-breaking HERO® technology, we challenged some of the orthodox thinking about the #hydrogen supply chain. Principally, we challenged the lack of critical thinking around the technological approach to hydrogen use (as opposed to supply) and especially the orthodox, flawed and largely unchallenged view that hydrogen should be burned to release its energy. Earlier in the day, BloombergNEF had given the industry a "1 out of 5" progress score for the state of the "demand side" of the hydrogen supply chain. We responded that, in our view, the flawed thinking around burning hydrogen was a big reason for the flagging demand. With HERO®, of course, we do not need to burn it: hydrogen to heat, without burning it, and with zero GHGs. That's our HERO®.

Last week, Star Scientific Limited was privileged to attend the Global African Hydrogen Summit in Windhoek, Namibia. We were overwhelmed by the warmth, interest and optimism shown to us by the host nation, Namibia and its African neighbours, as well as many of the European nations that attended the event. As we have outlined in the recent release of our 2023 Sustainability Report: https://lnkd.in/gxvSUhqv bringing “Energy Justice” to the developing world is a key value of our company, and, with up to 1 billion people in this world (the majority being in Africa), without direct access to electricity, there is so much for us to do. Namibia itself is truly an exciting leader in the development of the global hydrogen economy, with many projects on the ground already, and bipartisan support across politics . From Star’s point of view, the broadscale need for desalination and food requirements are particularly exciting. It also re-emphasised that HERO® occupies a unique position in the hydrogen supply chain, standing to be a demand-side activator. We’ll be sharing some of our African experiences at this weeks Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition.

Star Scientific’s sustainability journey commences At Star Scientific Ltd, our commitment to sustainability is integral to our mission, driving us to continuously improve, innovate, and lead by example in all aspects of our operations. We have just launched a new resource on our website, the Sustainability Hub, where we will provide information regarding our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts. As part of our launch, we are proud to present our inaugural Sustainability Report, showcasing the ongoing commitment and progress we have made on our sustainability journey. Our Commitment to Excellence In advancing our sustainability efforts, we have chosen to adhere to the most rigorous standards available – the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). These standards are crafted to meet the stringent requirements of European Union regulations and are widely regarded as the global benchmark for sustainability practices. Why ESRS? Operating in a global market, Star Scientific recognises the importance of meeting the highest standards. Compliance with the ESRS, recognised as one of the most comprehensive frameworks, will ensure we meet current and future legal expectations. Building a Sustainable Future By embracing the ESRS framework as the most rigorous standards available, Star Scientific is committed to growing in compliance with both local and international regulations. This will simplify our navigation through both current and upcoming global regulatory demands. The ESRS offers a comprehensive set of standards covering all key aspects of sustainability reporting, enabling us to provide detailed accounts of our practices, impacts, and performance in areas critical to our stakeholders, such as environmental integrity, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Our Vision In the coming years, you will be able to follow our progress in reporting on sustainability topics as we expand our operations. Our goal is to not only enhance our performance but also to support our customers in their sustainability efforts, contributing to a cleaner planet and Just Energy Transition. https://lnkd.in/gxvSUhqv https://lnkd.in/evp9cAVE

Another successful Parliamentary Friends of Hydrogen event at Parliament House, Canberra, Australia. It was a great chance to talk to Parliamentarians, their staff and bureaucrats about #renewablehydrogen, the hydrogen supply chain, industrial heat and, of course, the role of HERO®. Also a chance to sit in some sexy H2 Vehicles! Thank you to the Australian Hydrogen Council for organising this wonderful event.

With the Sustainable Energy Council World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam and the Americas Summit in Washington DC behind us, it's time to take stock and look forward as we prepare for the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Brisbane, Australia in September. Up until 2023, these conferences were dominated by discussion on the policy and investment "push" factors of hydrogen supply. In 2024, we have seen much more discussion around the "pull" factors of driving hydrogen demand. Of course, this vindicates what we at Star Scientific Limited have been saying for years, given the fact that we have the demand-side activator with our award-winning HERO® technology. So come and join us and the Australian Hydrogen Council in Brisbane as we talk more about where we see the future of hydrogen. You can register below: https:/https://lnkd.in/gBSjJSRt

🎉 Congratulations to the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition Sustainable Energy Council on another successful year. 🎉 As the world's largest hydrogen event, this year's summit featured a diverse array of keynotes and panels from the main stage, African Forum, Financing Forum, and multiple side rooms with roundtable discussions and breakout sessions. The exhibition welcomed over 25,000 visitors across three expansive halls over two days, showcasing solutions across the entire value chain. This incredible turnout highlights the industry's strength and the dedication of governments committed to the clean energy transition. Star Scientific was proud to join the Australian Pavilion that was twice as big this year and overflowing with Australian support. We look forward to returning to what will be even bigger in 2025!
