It may be cold and flu season in Australia, but according to the Black Dog Institute, mental illness is now the leading cause of sickness absence and long-term work incapacity in the country. At Suncorp Group, we work hard to create a positive workplace environment and culture and prioritise investing in our peoples’ mental health and wellbeing.  Which is why we choose to partner with not-for-profit leader the Black Dog Institute on initiatives that promote a mentally healthy workplace for all employees, backed by their medical research. One year into the partnership, and Suncorp Group Executive Manager Safety, Wellness & Resilience Andrea Gordon says it’s had a big impact.  “The Institute’s knowledgeable teams have supported Suncorp Group’s cause to elevate mental health awareness across our business using multiple channels,” she said. “We’re excited to continue to partner with the Black Dog Institute on workplace education initiatives as we grow and embed the skills we need to support a mentally healthy workplace now and in the future.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gHrR9tsX #bettermentalhealth #healthyworkplace #employeewellbeing

Congratulations to Mirvac on receiving the 2024 Minister’s Award for Urban Design from the Office of the Queensland Government Architect for the state-of-the-art Heritage Lanes building - Suncorp Group’s flagship Brisbane HQ. Designed in partnership with Mirvac, Suncorp Group’s first ‘post-COVID workplace’ officially opened its doors to employees in early 2022, with the intent of creating a future-ready office environment that aligns with the organisation’s sustainability, workplace flexibility and innovation goals. The achievement adds to Heritage Lanes’ impressive awards portfolio, which includes the prestigious ‘Best workplace in Brisbane’ certification as awarded by Leesman in 2023. We are very honoured to have received the 2024 Minister’s Award for Urban Design from the Office of the Queensland Government Architect for our state-of-the-art Heritage Lanes building and precinct. These awards celebrate the pivotal role of leading architects, landscape architects and planners in developing the culture, sustainability, and economy of Queensland. The jury described the project as a “living demonstration of what it means to be connected to place through a highly porous ground plane.” “This is urban design at its most generous and inviting,” the jury said. “It draws people into its pockets of respite with playful elements and native plantings that delight the senses, while creating a highly legible and memorable interface with the city streets.” The world-class office tower, spanning 35-levels, designed for 7,000 employees and incorporating more than 60,000 square metres of premium-grade office space, is one of Australia’s smartest buildings, embracing leading technology, sustainability and design. Mirvac’s Group General Manager, Commercial & Mixed-Use Development, Simon Healy said: “Heritage Lanes is the expression of a fantastic partnership with M&G Real Estate and major tenant, Suncorp Group, that from the outset, set out to be a world-class workplace and one of the most sustainable new buildings in Australia." Congratulations to the Heritage Lanes team, ASPECT Studios and Woods Bagot.

While many #Queenslanders hope to celebrate a #Maroons win this evening in the #StateofOrigin decider, we at Suncorp Group are proud to celebrate the iconic stadium itself this year – as 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Suncorp Stadium name. In 1994, after extensive renovations, the stadium formerly known as Lang Park (or to locals, ‘The Cauldron’) was officially renamed Suncorp-Metway Stadium. From hosting sporting legends like Wally Lewis and Johnathan Thurston AM, to music icons like Elton John, Suncorp Stadium has captured many memorable moments in the history of Queenslanders. At Suncorp Group, we are surrounded by talented people; our Sun Chasers whose personal and professional achievements we celebrate proudly. In our latest story in the Sun Chasers series, we chat to Suncorp employee Rodney Stuurman, and share his nostalgic reflections on his fame as part of Australia’s first First Nations boy band, AIM 4 MORE. The band led the way for First Nations representation in the music scene, with successes including winning a Deadly Award for most promising new act in 1997 and performing at events like State of Origin and Ausmusic. Suncorp Group came together to celebrate the unyielding spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples under the banner of this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.     We also celebrated the launch of our second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). This strategic plan of action will guide us over the next two years as we work to increase economic equity and support First Nations self-determination. Suncorp Group Executive General Manager Customer Service Stuart Beaumont is the Group’s RAP Champion and will drive the program forward. “We’ve built good foundations for our reconciliation program; however, we know there are plenty more opportunities ahead of us to bring tangible benefits to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities,” he said.  “We’re excited to bring this to life with the renewed focus of this plan.”  Read more: https://lnkd.in/gujX2Gyq #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud Manelle Issa Karyn Munsie Matthew Leslie

#BREAKING: Suncorp Group today welcomes the Federal Treasurer’s approval of the proposed sale of Suncorp Bank to ANZ. This approval brings the completion another step closer, with official completion expected at the end of July. Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston said the decision was an important step towards Suncorp Group becoming a dedicated Trans-Tasman insurer, proudly headquartered in Queensland. “Following completion, Suncorp will focus on meeting the evolving needs of insurance customers and addressing increasingly complex challenges such as climate change and affordability,” Mr Johnston said. “This decision also brings us another step closer to the delivery of the jobs and investment package Suncorp agreed with the Queensland government as part of the sale process, with benefits not only for Queensland but across Australia and New Zealand more broadly.” READ MORE: https://bit.ly/4cjXIoq

Suncorp Group CEO of Consumer Insurance Lisa Harrison joins some of Australia’s most respected leaders on The Australian Financial Review’s prestigious Women In Leadership list. “I have been fortunate to have had some incredible mentors and sponsors over the years and if it weren’t for their encouragement to take some leaps, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she said. “I would love to see more women leaders in the insurance industry, which is why I’m incredibly excited to represent Suncorp as a founding member of the LiiFT (Leaders in Insurance for Tomorrow) mentoring program. It’s initiatives like these that will give more women seats at the tables that matter, and ensure they, too, are recognised in prestigious lists like this.” Congratulations to Lisa and all the other exceptional leaders! #AFRwomeninleadership #womenininsurance #LiiFT #Leadersininsurancefortomorrow

Six months ago, the wettest tropical #cyclone in Australian history made landfall. The torrential rainfall from ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper broke more than a century of #flood records and caused widespread damage to residential communities, local agriculture, small business and tourism. Suncorp Group’s Customer Support Team (CST) mobilised north as soon as it was safe to do so.  “When an event occurs, we want to be on the ground as soon as it is safe to do so,” said CST Lead Roger Clegg. “There is an amazing amount that we can do to support our customers but taking those few extra moments just to listen allows us to better assist them with their claim and immediate needs.” Today, Suncorp Group is reinforcing its #commitment to our northern Queensland #communities, working through challenging claims, supporting customers to move back home, and working towards the future vision of a north Queensland customer support hub. Each year, Australia needs more than 1.7 million blood donations to meet demand: that's one donation needed every 18 seconds.    This World Blood Donor Day, we’re celebrating the impact of more than half a million generous donors who make a difference through life-saving blood donations, including our very own Suncorp Lifeblood Team. So far in 2024, 203 donors have contributed 391 donations and helped save up to 1,173 lives.    Executive General Manager of Internal Audit Helen Davis is one of our incredible donors who started donating regularly after finding out she shares a rare blood type with just two per cent of the population.     “I had been giving blood sporadically and then one day Lifeblood asked me to contact them immediately because they had a sick baby that really needed my blood,” she said.    “They sent me a beautiful message that afternoon to thank me for giving blood which reinforced the impact I was making. It’s such a rewarding experience.”    #giveblood #worldblooddonorday Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

We have a beloved TV personality in our midst! Anastasia Katselas is a Suncorp Group Claims Specialist who loves her role supporting our customers during the day, before heading home to film Network 10 hit reality TV show ‘Gogglebox’ in the evenings. Now appearing in her 19th season, Anastasia’s warm humour and quick wit has been broadcast into millions of homes for more than a decade. In our latest story in the Sun Chasers series, we talk to Anastasia about navigating celebrity life while parenting and juggling a full-time career - and whether customers ever pick up on just who they’re talking with on the other end of the phone. “There’s been about six or seven occasions where I’ve been discussing a claim with a customer and all of a sudden, they say, ‘I know that voice! You’re off Gogglebox!” Read Anastasia’s story: https://lnkd.in/gJhyWMfv #sunchaser #realityTV #gogglebox
