About us

What's it like to work in one of the world's most inspiring buildings? One day you could be setting the stage for a concerto, and the next you could be live broadcasting a performance around the globe. All of this is possible when you're a part of the Sydney Opera House team, where colleagues from departments like Marketing, Performing Arts, Production, Legal, Finance, Building Development and more work together to produce experiences that embody beauty, inspiration, and the liberating power of art and ideas. Our mission is two-fold: • We will treasure and renew the Opera House for future generations of artists, audiences and visitors. • Everything we do will inspire and engage people through its excellence, ambition, and breadth. We will strengthen our central role in Australia’s cultural life and identity. Our team members enjoy a range of great benefits, including: • Access to complimentary tickets for performances; • Five weeks annual leave for selected roles; • Competitive salary packages; • Access to a vast range of internal and external professional development programs; and • Complimentary pilates, yoga and circuit classes as well as other wellbeing initiatives. The Sydney Opera House has been home to thousands of inspiring performances over more than 40 years and is now undergoing an exciting period of renewal. This includes projects that will replace technology and machinery that has reached the end of its working life, open new areas to the public and ensure the Opera House is equipped to welcome as many people in as many ways as possible. Our team are multi-award winners, with recent accolades including a 2016 National Trust Heritage Award, a NSW Government Green Globe award and 11 Lions at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. To mark this year’s United Nations Global Goals Week, the Sydney Opera House invites you to 'Can Culture Help Build a Better World?', a special event livestream featuring emerging arts leaders and recipients of the 2023-24 Lloyd Martin Travelling Scholarship! 👏 Taking place in the Utzon Room, the event features panellists Anna Yanatchkova (Sydney Opera House) and Joanna Erskine (Bell Shakespeare) who will explore the role of the creative sector in helping to address today’s most pressing challenges, drawing on insights from a recent international study tour during which they met with 60 arts and cultural organisations across Europe and the United States. Both panellists will present their research findings followed by an audience Q&A. The discussion will be livestreamed from 10.30am on Thursday 26 September: https://lnkd.in/gwebwFKQ The Opera House acknowledges the generous support of the Alexandra and Lloyd Martin Family Foundation, which established and has funded the Scholarship since 2014.

📢 We are seeking a conservation and heritage expert to join our Conservation Council, and an architecture and design expert to join our Design Advisory Panel. The Conservation Council and Design Advisory Panel are pivotal in providing specialist conservation, heritage, architecture and design advice to the Trust and the House, playing an integral role in helping to conserve the outstanding design and heritage values of the House as it evolves to meet the needs of the community. Since the two groups were established, among other things, they have assisted in the planning and delivery of the Opera House’s Decade of Renewal – a program of capital works to transform the World Heritage-listed icon ahead of its 50th anniversary celebrated late last year. 🔗 Expression of Interest - Conservation Council Member: https://lnkd.in/eJs3WmYE 🔗 Expression of Interest - Design Advisory Panel Member: https://lnkd.in/eJtgq952 📷 Hamilton Lund

Cafe Sydney has been a supporter of the Opera House since 2008. After our own big birthday last year, we are delighted to wish them a very happy 25th birthday! 👏   This year, we co-hosted an inaugural International Women’s Day event featuring All About Women speaker Anna Funder and Sydney Opera House Trustee and Chief Executive Women (CEW) CEO Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz. A thought-provoking conversation sparked by Anna’s book 'Wifedom' took place over a beautiful lunch curated by the Cafe Sydney team, with generous support behind the bar from our partners Archie Rose Distilling Co. and G.H. Mumm.   “We are proud to be in a longstanding partnership with the Sydney Opera House. Not only does our relationship demonstrate strategic collaboration across the Circular Quay precinct, we are proud to be associated with the culture and creativity the Opera House represents.” Jan McKenzie, CEO, Cafe Sydney. Cafe Sydney is just one supporter in our family of partners who enables so much of what we do at the Opera House. Other recent partner highlights include creating a very special priceless™ experience for Mastercard with the one and only Jamie Oliver, the launch of a limited edition 50th anniversary Mumm Cordon Rouge gift box to help celebrate our milestone last year, and hosting Honeywell graduate employees for Global Goals workshops to learn more about how collaboration is critical to tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges. 📷 Katje Ford
