What started as an internal initiative to bring NTGS staff together to share insights has now grown into an exciting interstate event that fosters collaboration and innovation. 🌍 Exploring South Australia’s Critical Minerals Last week, our Mineral Systems and Resources team embarked on an exciting field trip as part of the Critical Minerals South Australia (CMSA) project. Their mission? ⚒️ CT500 coiled tubing drilling rig sparks interest! In late January, the GSSA and MinEx CRC welcomed industry participants and affiliate members at the National Drilling Initiative’s (NDI) current drilling site north of Coober Pedy. There has been great interest in the performance and progress of DIG CT ’s prototype CT500 coiled tubing rig across South Australia’s Northern Gawler Craton, as part of our ‘stratigraphic mapping with a rig’ program - from both international and local companies alike. MinEx CRC Industry Participants BHP and Affiliate member Strategic Energy Resources Limited were both provided a thorough introduction to the CT500 drill rig, a DET CRC and MinEx CRC-developed technology featuring 500m of flexible steel coil. Being able to safely observe and explore the drilling and the rig setup meant visitors could pose drilling-related questions about the innovative drilling technique while observing the CT rig technology and operations firsthand. The project is achieving its primary aim of providing basement samples in this underexplored and under-drilled area of Northern Gawler Craton.
