Hello, world! 👋 We are the Cool Heating Coalition, a collective of 13 organisations working together to reshape how we heat and cool buildings across Europe. Our mission is clear: heating and cooling must become renewable, sustainable and affordable across the EU. We know that the fossil fuels we use now for our heating and cooling leave us vulnerable to price volatility, air pollution and the threat of climate change. Decarbonising heating and cooling by 2040 is essential for attaining the EU’s security, health, and climate targets, while providing us with the opportunity to create new jobs and ensure everyone has access to a secure and affordable energy supply. ⚡ Find out more about our work and sign up to receive our regular updates: https://lnkd.in/d89_xxrt Follow us on Twitter: https://lnkd.in/dFAkPyQn #CleanEnergy #RenewableHeating #SustainableCooling #ClimateAction #GreenTransition #TogetherForChange

"As long as we as Europe remain reliant on fossil fuels, we will remain weak." That's the message, that's the essence. Great words from MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin today at the Euroheat & Power Summit. Time to #BringHeatHome and end our dependency on fossil fuels and the countries we import them from.

It's already tomorrow! 🤩 Every year, the #EHPSummit is an opportunity to shape and accelerate the #EU #heating and #cooling transition. But at the dawn of a new mandate, this edition is special in more ways than one. Faced with an energy price crisis that is undermining the EU’s competitiveness and social welfare, the decarbonisation of heating and cooling is a no brainer! In 2024, heating and cooling represented half of Europe’s energy demand, 27% of its CO2 emissions, and a large portion of our costly natural gas imports. With a new #Energy and #Housing Commission portfolio, there's never been a better time to #BringHeatHome! Looking forward to inspiring exchanges with Poland’s Deputy-Minister for Climate and Environment Krzysztof (Chris) Bolesta, MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, MEP Sigrid Friis, MEP Bruno Tobback, DG ENERGY’s Paula Rey Garcia, Jan Rosenow, EHPA's Paul Kenny, Efficient Buildings Europe's Julie Kjestrup, Danfoss VP District Energy Sasa Rihtarsic, Anna Hall, Brian Vad Mathiesen and many more! 📍 Sparks meeting, Rue Ravenstein 60, 1000 Bruxelles ℹ https://bit.ly/4gA07xO Euroheat & Power

How cool is this? 😎 From Munich to Budapest, cities across Europe are taking action to slash emissions from heating and cooling. We're happy to join Covenant of Mayors - Europe's #CitiesHeatDetox campaign and spread the word. Heating and cooling account for almost half of the energy we use - and are major contributors to CO2 emissions in urban areas. 🇭🇺 For the city of Miskloc, decarbonising heating system is not only vital for reducing emissions, but also for improving air quality and public health. 🇩🇪 In Munich, heating and cooling are responsible for almost 40% greenhouse gas emissions. By reducing heat demand and shifting to cleaner energy, the city is becoming less dependent on fossil fuels, increasing local energy security. 🌱 🇭🇺 In Budapest, where the city faces frigid winters, buildings account for 60% of emissions, mainly from heating. That's why reducing these emissions is essential to making the city more resilient and sustainable. Want to find out more on how these cities are tackling this challenge? Member States have just one year left to transpose Article 25.6 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) regarding local heating and cooling plans. Our updated EU Tracker reveals that 13 Member States are significantly lagging behind in developing the necessary legal frameworks—this is concerning. For municipalities to succeed, they need a robust legal framework paired with strong support measures. These elements are essential for the effective implementation of local H&C plans. We have eight recommendations for an ambitious transposition: https://lnkd.in/epBBBUww North West Croatia Regional Energy and Climate Agency (REGEA)
