About us

Founded in 1960, Jean Goldschmidt International SA is a major industrial recycler dealing with a wide range of complex non-ferrous metals bearing residues, by-products, secondary raw materials, etc. JGI is specialised in the "difficult to recycle" materials. JGI has had a more-than-160-years-long experience in the recycling of complex materials, which makes it a solid and internationally known company. JGI is trading with more than 40 countries. Our commercial office is based in the center of Brussels. We have a strong, multilingual team (French, Flemish, German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish...) that purchases 60 000 tons of raw materials per year that our recycling plant, Hydrometal, recycles. Our commercial team offers customized and flexible commercial solutions, and an environmentally-friendly behavior. Our recycling plant, Hydrometal, was created in 1985 and is located in Engis, near Liège.

    The JGI-HYDROMETAL group will be attending the 2024 European Chapter of the IPMI (EC-IPMI) Annual Seminar. The event is scheduled to take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from November 17-19. The EC-IPMI provides an industry platform to share insights on issues and topics in precious metals while offering resources and opportunities for its members.     « Alerte News » Les choses bougent chez HYDROMETAL France !! Une étape de plus franchie pour notre usine qui a obtenu son permis de construire et son arrêté préfectoral d’autorisation d’exploiter. Ceux-ci nous permettent d’entreprendre les travaux nécessaires afin d’envisager un démarrage des premières installations d’ici la fin d’année. Une opération logistique d’envergure a eu lieu lors de l’installation de deux nouveaux silos. Deux grues de 200 tonnes et 300 tonnes ont été nécessaires pour positionner ces silos à leurs places définitives. #jgihydrometal #hydrometalfrance #zinc #metauxnonferreux #nonferrousmetals #recycling #recyclage #dunkirk #dunkerque

    The JGI-HYDROMETAL group will be attending the Second International Zinc Recycling Conference & 2024 Zinc Metal Roundtable. Both events are scheduled to take place in Nashville, US, from November 13-15. Organized by the International Zinc Association, these events will focus on the latest technical and market trends for zinc, as well as the recovery of the metal from secondary raw materials. Speakers will include representatives from major zinc companies, industry management, analysts, and zinc consumers. Attendees are invited to connect with our representative, Mr. Ron SMEDTS, to discuss the JGI-HYDROMETAL group's developments and activities regarding the recycling of zinc from complex materials, contributing to the circular economy of this value chain.     The JGI-HYDROMETAL group participated in the Joint General Assembly of the Important Project of Common European Interest (#IPCEI) on Batteries, a key element of the European Commission's strategic plan to position Europe as a leader in the sustainable and competitive battery value chain. As part of the IPCEI EuBatIn initiative, the JGI-HYDROMETAL group is conducting the AKER project, which focuses on the multi-element hydrometallurgical recycling of pre-treated lithium-ion batteries. #jgihydrometal #batteryrecycling #lithiumionbatteries

    #Europe | Ces lundi 14 et mardi 15 octobre, se tenait la première assemblée générale conjointe des PIIEC Batteries et EuBatIn à Lyon, co-organisée par la Direction Générale des Entreprises, l’Allemagne (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and VDI/VDE-IT) et Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes-Alpes Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises. Les États membres, des représentants de la Commission européenne (DG COMP et DG GROW) et des entreprises du secteur des batteries se sont réunis pour faire le point sur l’avancée des projets ce ces projets importants d’intérêt européens commun (PIIEC) autorisés en 2019 en 2021, et les défis et opportunités pour l’écosystème européen des batteries. Au programme de ces journées : ✔ Différentes sessions de travail entre la Commission européenne, les États membres et les entreprises des deux PIIEC Batteries. ✔ Les interventions sur l’état de la filière européenne des batteries de Avicenne Energy et des fabricants de batteries Northvolt et Skeleton Technologies. ✔Une table ronde animée par Bpifrance sur les enjeux de financement de ces projets avec European Investment Bank (EIB), EBA , Syensqo.   ✔ Une visite de l’usine de production de graphite très bas-carbone de Tokai COBEX Savoie. ✔ La présentation de 4 startups/PME régionales ENTROVIEW, WATTALPS, Enersens et SPOOLEX.   ✔ Une réception donnée par Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises pour permettre un échange entre l’écosystème régional et les entreprises des PIIEC Batteries. 💡 Les deux Projets importants d'intérêt européen commun (PIIEC) sur les batteries visent une transformation durable de l'Union européenne, à travers la décarbonation des mobilités individuelles.
