🚀 Exciting Workshop Update! We are pleased to announce that a successful workshop was held the 26th of June at Thales Alenia Space premises in Cannes with our esteemed partners and members of the advisory board, as part of our Space USB Project (Thales Alenia Space, Sener Aerospace & Defence, Space Applications Services NV/SA, iBOSS, Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), SpaceLocker, Airbus Defence and Space, European Space Agency - ESA, OHB System AG). The workshop, focusing on the definition of specifications for standard interfaces, brought together key stakeholders to engage in productive discussions and collaborations. Our objectives for this workshop were as follows: - Discuss preliminary specifications: A detailed presentation was given on the state-of-the-art standard interfaces (SIs), the project objectives and the three European solutions: HOTDOCK, SIROM, and iSSI. This ensured a comprehensive understanding and alignment among all parties. Participants reviewed and analyzed the initial specifications provided. - Identify Hard/Open Points: The workshop served as a platform to identify and address challenging or unresolved points within the prospective standard. This collaborative approach aimed to harmonize different perspectives and reach a consensus. - Formulate Recommendations on Next Steps: Through in-depth discussions, participants formulated actionable recommendations for the next steps. These recommendations will guide the ongoing development and refinement of the standard interfaces, ensuring they meet the highest quality and functionality standards. The workshop was marked by a cooperation mindset and a shared commitment to advancing our project’s goals. We extend our gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and look forward to the continued collaboration as we move forward. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress as we work towards establishing robust and effective standard interfaces for the European space sector. #SpaceUSBProject #SpaceInnovation #StandardInterfaces #Collaboration #SpaceSector Image : Copyright E-Briot/Thales Alenia Space

☄ We are thrilled to share that Space USB members recently participated in the In-Space Operations and Services (ISOS) Cluster Workshop organized by Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space and European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). This insightful event focused on groundbreaking advancements in satellite servicing, assembly, manufacturing, recycling, and logistics in space. The workshop brought together a diverse group of experts and showcased various EU-funded projects under the Future Space Ecosystems and New Space Transportation and Services calls. It was an excellent platform to present the project and its objectives, and to discuss and align our efforts towards building a sustainable and innovative space ecosystem. Our project is committed to enhancing space sustainability through our active involvement in the ecosystem of On Orbit Servicing (OOS) and On Orbit Servicing Assembly and Manufacturing (OSAM). This workshop not only provided a deeper understanding of current initiatives but also fostered collaboration among stakeholders in the space sector. Looking forward to contributing to these exciting developments and making strides in the future of space operations! 🌌 Join Us in Advancing Orbital Technology! 🌌 We are currently researching multifunctional interconnects* for orbital applications as part of EU funded Project SPACE USB and would like to include industrial expertise in our work. 📝 How You Can Help: Information from all existing multifunctional interconnects can help us to find and recommend good standards that can be applied in the EU. For this reason, we would like to ask you to give us some information about your multifunctional interface in detail. To keep it all in a standard format, we will create a list. We would be happy if you fill in this list with information and send it back to us. 📅 Deadline: Please submit your completed list by May 31, 2024. 🔗 Download the List: https://lnkd.in/ex4XtrxW 📊 Our Commitment: Upon request, we plan to share our overview and analysis evaluations as a result with participants. The results will be published in a scientific paper. Together, we can drive innovation and excellence in space technology! * The meaning of multifunctional interconnect is, that there is an interconnect which is able to mechanically connect space crafts/modules/systems/robotic systems together physically (mechanical and electrical) and data transfer (once the module is equipped with one multifunctional interconnect) and maybe with refueling capability. #Research #SpaceTechnology #EUProject #Innovation #OrbitalApplications #ScientificResearch #MultifunctionalInterconnects #ExpertCollaboration

🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Space USB’s LinkedIn account and the kick-off of a groundbreaking project in collaboration with 6 esteemed European companies, funded by the EU! We held the project kick-off meeting on January 10th, 2024 in Brussels.   🌟 Project Summary: In today's rapidly evolving space industry, fostering cooperation among European space interconnects providers is not just strategic—it's essential. Our project aims to address this need by paving the way for a more flexible, universal, and serial interface (USB-type), leveraging the standardization levels already achieved by existing space connectors for on-orbit servicing and assembly applications.   🔍 Project Goals: Under the operational grant of Horizon Europe, we are embarking on a journey with a double ambition: Defining a more enhanced standardization level for future space standard interconnects (SIs). Demonstrating the standard application of these innovations.   ✨ Why This Matters: By standardizing space interconnects, we're not only streamlining processes but also enabling seamless integration of elements from various sources—a crucial step for the future of orbital rendez-vous, on-orbit servicing and assembly applications.   🤝 Consortium: This project wouldn't be possible without the collaboration of six visionary European companies, whose expertise and dedication will drive our success : Thales Alenia Space; Sener Aerospace & Defence; iBOSS GmbH; Space Applications Services NV/SA; Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI); In Extenso Innovation Croissance   🎉 Join Us: We are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative and eager to share updates and insights as we progress. Let's connect and embark on this journey together as we shape the future of space exploration!   #SpaceInnovation #EUHorizon #Collaboration #SpaceTechnology #FutureOfSpace #LinkedInLaunch
