The current economic challenges we are facing as a country make #Elxn45 one of the most important federal election campaigns to date.  As Canadians head to the polls to decide who will form our next government, safeguarding the long-term prosperity of all our communities must be paramount. This work starts in our communities – for which municipal leaders are the strongest advocates. We need a new approach that moves beyond crisis-reaction mode towards a stronger future for all Canadians. Through this federal election campaign, we will be pushing all federal parties on the need for a National Prosperity Partnership – a smarter, long-term approach, in which all orders of government work together for the benefit of Canadians – so municipalities can foster safe, resilient and thriving communities. In Canada and across North America, local economies are already hurting from imposed U.S. tariffs. We need to work together to see an end to this dispute.     Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, other Canadian mayors and FCM representatives are meeting with American and Mexican counterparts in Washington today for a trilateral trade summit.
