  • This month Fleetway welcomed 5 new students to our Dartmouth NS, Ottawa ON, and St. John's NL, offices. Our students are from Dalhousie University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the University of Ottawa. Our Transition to Service and Engineering departments are lucky to have these bright minds with them for the winter 2025 term. We are excited to watch them make valuable contributions to the team. Welcome to Fleetway!

  • Fleetway is proud of its employees and their generosity for once again stepping up to support the Salvation Army's annual toy drive. 2024 was another difficult year for many, which makes helping those less fortunate more important than ever. This year, our team donated over 260 toys, books, and games to help ensure local children receive a gift they may have otherwise gone without. Thank you to everyone who donated to help make Christmas more magical and brighter.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, Fleetway staff gathered for a Holiday lunch today. Following our lunch, staff received their annual holiday turkeys, a tradition JD Irving has carried on for decades. We want to thank everyone who helped organize this festive celebration!

  • Today Irving Shipbuilding and Fleetway representatives held a candlelight vigil for National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women at our Bluenose Building. White Ribbons, pins, and information were handed out to spread awarness on gender-based violence and to honour the 14 lives lost at Montreal’s École Polytechnique on December 6th, 1989.

  • December 6th is a National Day of Remembrance to mark the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal tragedy where 14 women were murdered. Over 30 years later, the effects of this tragedy continue to be felt, and women remain targets for violence due to their gender. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women is about remembering victims as well as committing and acting to end gender-based violence.

  • This past Saturday, November 23rd, Fleetway was a proud platinum sponsor of the Marine Institute's Model Boat Race. This is a great event that introduces Jr. and Sr. High School students to marine systems and naval architecture. We were excited to see some new schools participating this year with a noted increase in female team members this year which is always great to see. It was great to see the students perform on the spot trouble shooting and the solutions come to life in the water. There were some great designs from a catamaran, a fishing vessel, and a pontoon type design. It was inspiring to see the excitement and comradery within the teams. Always a fun day!
