Thank you Toronto District School Board and Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto for having Maria and I exhibit at the 𝗧𝗗𝗦𝗕/𝗢𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿! It was wonderful to connect with fellow exhibitors about their projects and initiatives, engage in meaningful discussions  with educators on how to involve students in environmental efforts and GreenLearning Canada Foundation’s challenges (https://lnkd.in/g4teu25F), and participate in workshops. I had the opportunity to attend the workshop “𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’’ hosted by the 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲. This was an insightful session that explored the Truths (i.e. climate change impacts) and Reconciliations (i.e. relationships, responsibility, action) in the context of climate change. We also took time to step outside and connect with the land, reflecting on our surroundings and how we were feeling. This is a simple, yet impactful exercise that can be done with students of all ages.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of presenting at the 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗕𝗖𝗦𝗖𝗧𝗔) 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 alongside Andreana S.! We had a great turnout, showcasing GreenLearning Canada Foundation’s 𝗥𝗲-𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 and 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁. GreenLearning’s Re-Energy program is unique as we challenge educators and their students to build working models of different renewable energy sources, such as solar ovens and wind turbines. With the expansion of the Electrifying the Future project, GreenLearning is heading to Ontario to work with Peel District School Board in providing students with the opportunity to convert a gas-powered car into an electric vehicle. Educators from across BC were able to see how they can use GreenLearning’s free education resources, sign-up for the Charging Ahead (https://lnkd.in/gZbPM7XZ) initiative and get involved in challenges to inspire their students to take action for the environment in a fun and engaging way. Check out this video on GreenLearning’s Challenge Showcase that students from Britannia Public School made as part of last year’s Re-Energy Challenge! https://lnkd.in/g9wCv-RN

Had such a great time this week representing GreenLearning Canada Foundation at the rare Charitable Research Reserve Sustainability Career Expo! We were able to connect with students, educators and professionals that are interested in exploring potential career paths in the environmental sector. Our interactive programs and challenges that focus on environmental issues were showcased to highlight how these resources work in guiding youth towards a career path of community impact. Meeting, learning and connecting with other exhibitors and organizations was a lot of fun, and we even got to make a new feathery friend!

GreenLearning is so pleased to have facilitated creative expression for the environment along with partners participating at COP28 in Dubai through its innovative eCards! As the post below says, "Through eCard creation and group poetry writing, the students explored artistic avenues to amplify their commitment to climate action." Create a holiday eCard with a climate message! By sending an eCard to a decision maker, learners can express what they have learned through their environmental research and share on the topics that matter most to them.
