Bringing knowledge and opportunities to those who can apply and realize hydrogen technology's benefits in their work.
About us
HBC is a like-minded community dedicated to bringing knowledge and opportunities to the minds and hands of those who can apply and realize the benefits of hydrogen technology in their work and their lives. We endeavour to ensure that the uptake of hydrogen opportunities that is happening in many global centres can also happen in Ontario. We further believe that many aspects of such a community model can be replicated in other Canadian locations. Areas where we see clear priorities for developing projects, community-building activities and programming include: • Hydrogen education and awareness-raising in Ontario and in Canada; • Advocating for hydrogen solutions on behalf of our members, partners and stakeholders, with government decision makers at every level – to remove barriers and create incentives; • Exploring ways and means for HBC to be instrumental in the enablement and development of H2 projects – both for end users and as part of building out a viable hydrogen production infrastructure.

I am so honoured to have been able to present my research on hydrogen investments in Canada as a hydrogen investment survey at the Hydrogen Business Council (HBC) hydrogen conference on Friday. I had a great time exploring innovations by the Ontario Tech University where the conference was held and getting to see the fuel cell they are developing among other technologies.

It was a pleasure to attend the annual Hydrogen Business Council (HBC) conference for the first time as a visitor. I was impressed by the high caliber of speakers, offering a comprehensive view of the low-carbon hydrogen industry in Canada, and more specifically in Ontario. Ontario has everything it takes to lead in the production and use of low-carbon hydrogen. Lhyfe #Canada #energytransition #HydrogenPowered

#Safety of #hydrogen handling in any given application is both challenging and achievable. Safety is a broad and collective term that entails several interconnected levels and mechanisms, to ensure operations of hydrogen handling equipment and systems is done safely to personnel, public, and property. Last Friday (Oct 18), I had the privilege of hosting a panel on hydrogen safety, along with three other experts in the hydrogen field: 1. Melanie Pinatton from CSA Group on standards relating to hydrogen safety 2. Pierre Bénard from Hydrogen Research Institute on research activities on hydrogen safety 3. Zekai Hong from National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada on hydrogen sensors and their role in hydrogen safety 4. Nirmal Gnanapragasam, PhD., P.Eng. from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories discussing the scope of the Canadian Hydrogen Safety Centre (CH2SC) This was at the Hydrogen Business Council (HBC) conference in #Oshawa ON, at the campus of Ontario Tech University. Safety is always an ongoing community and networked activity. Hence, for this panel we had participation from four institutions with long term history on hydrogen and safety. Thanks to HBC organizers (David Haberman, Brad Chittick, P.Eng. and Joanne McMillin) for the opportunity to discuss hydrogen safety. Some photos from the panel.

Congratulations to the Hydrogen Business Council (HBC) leadership team on this exceptional event hosted at Ontario Tech University Sam Oosterhoff, Les Jacobs
I was delighted to host and provide welcoming comments at Ontario Tech University for the past two days the Hydrogen Business Council of Canada's annual conference: Canadian Hydrogen Economy in Action. The conference included participation by more than 100 of Canada's leading entrepreneurs in the hydrogen economy, showcasing their new technology and innovations. A special thanks to the Associate Minister of Energy Sam Oosterhof for his overview of the Government of Ontario's initiatives in the hydrogen economy as well as taking the time to visit Ontario Tech University's unique hydrogen research facilities and Brilliant Energy Institute. The CHA was proud to participate in the Hydrogen Business Council (HBC)'s annual conference this past week. A highlight of the event was the keynote address to kick things off by Ontario's Associate Minister of Energy Sam Oosterhoff. Additionally, CHA President and CEO, Ivette Vera-Perez, took part in a dynamic fireside chat, discussing Ontario’s hydrogen future and how Canada as a whole is embracing hydrogen as a key energy solution. We also hosted a Cross Country Plenary, facilitated Ivette Vera-Perez, with regional hydrogen leaders from across the country including CHA Hydrogen BC's Todd Romaine, CHA Hydrogen Alberta's Pranav Chandrasekar, CHA Hydrogen Ontario's Maike Althaus, International Association for Hydrogen Energy's Prof. Dr. Bruno G. Pollet, and Eastward Energy's Derek Estabrook. We look forward to being back next year! #hydrogenleadership #cleanenergytransition #canadahydrogen #hydrogeneconomy #sustainableenergy #hydrogen #HBC #ontario #netzero #decarbonization #hydrogenenergy #cleanenergy
