Info
CERN is a truly unique organisation. A genuine collaboration between countries, universities, and scientists, driven not by profit margins, but by a commitment to create and share knowledge. People here are part of immense scientific discoveries, answering some of life’s most complex questions and pushing the boundaries of understanding. Experts from every field come here to share in this ambition and the nature of this collaborative, international community creates a genuine atmosphere of trust. People are free to work creatively and to trust in, and rely on, their colleagues across the organisation. History’s being made here – and the excitement is tangible, inspiring, and overwhelming at times. It is the only place in the world where you can do this work in this way. --- If you’ve worked at CERN in the past, why not join the official CERN LinkedIn Alumni group, linked from this page.

🌍 Can technologies developed for particle physics tackle global health challenges? 🌍 At the heart of the Global Health Workshop hosted by CERN and organised in partnership with the Geneva Health Forum, participants tackled some of the most pressing global health challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. The discussions focused on addressing critical pain points, ranging from data management to healthcare safety. Here are five key challenges explored: 🔹 Vaccination data management for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and people on the move 🚧 Pain points: Lack of secure data transfer systems across borders, absence of data digitisation, and trust issues between actors and data providers. 🔹 Data analytics for climate change and perinatal health 🚧 Pain points: Insufficient research on how climate change impacts maternal and newborn health, and a lack of data to draw meaningful correlations. 🔹 #Malaria management and intervention impact 🚧 Pain points: Late diagnosis, the absence of a global malaria dataset, and limited real-time assessments for evidence-based interventions. 🔹 Occupational safety of healthcare professionals from #radiation exposure 🚧 Pain points: Lack of real-time detection of radiation exposure, and a gap in education and material research for protection. 🔹 Multimodal health data integration 🚧 Pain points: Challenges in integrating health data from multiple sources that do not comply with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). These discussions are laying the groundwork for innovative solutions and partnerships that will shape the future of global health. Stay tuned for the Global Health Webinar on 26 November 2024, where we will dive deeper into these topics and explore how technologies developed at CERN can help solve these critical challenges. 👉 Register to the webinar on https://lnkd.in/dbvDufiR ! 👉 Follow #Innovate4GlobalHealth to stay updated! #GlobalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #DataAnalytics #Vaccination #Vaccines #Collaboration #MaternalHealth #HealthData Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, EATRIS, Terre des hommes foundation, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), World Health Organization, IOM - UN Migration, University of Ottawa, Geneva Graduate Institute, Group on Earth Observations (GEO), IUCN, Merck Group, The Global Fund, Medicines for Malaria Venture, Neuro Health Care 4 LMIC, University of Oxford, International Cancer Expert Corps, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), CHUV | Lausanne university hospital, HUG - Hopitaux Universitaires de Genève, Utrecht University, Servicio Madrileño de Salud, IRYCIS, Masaryk University, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Quibim, SHARE - Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, STFC

Here we see, for the first time ever, the transport of unbonded protons across the CERN site, a big step towards portable #antimatter. CERN’s Antimatter Factory is the only place in the world where scientists can store and study antiprotons. But scientists at the BASE experiment hope to change this state of matter with an apparatus designed to store and transport antimatter. Last week, a team of BASE scientists and engineers took an important step towards this goal by transporting a cloud of 70 protons in a truck across the CERN site.
