"We're thinking about exploiting the properties of silk so that they can become a coating that can envelop our food and, while we do it, the coating is able to keep the water in, the oxygen out, and slow down microbial growth so that it can extend the shelf life of food". Statement approved 🎉   Yesterday, at the end of its meeting chaired by Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, the United Nations Security Council approved a statement presented by Switzerland on the impact of scientific development on peace and security, recognizing the need for a proactive approach to decision-making.   The acceleration of science and technology is having a large impact on every aspect of our lives, including in the field of peace and security.  Since its creation in 2019, GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator has been leveraging the power of anticipation to develop tools for the benefit of everyone. It provides strategic guidance to the work of the Open Quantum Institute. Workshop: Accelerating Quantum Applications for Humanity What if there is no application to leverage quantum for the SDGs? At the Summit’s workshop facilitated by Catherine Lefebvre, PhD, the use case teams explored best practices in quantum machine learning and neuro networks, discussing the potential of quantum technology for social good. We’re collaborating to develop applications that align with the Global Goals. Workshop: Advancing Capacity Building What if only a few know how to use quantum technology? At the Summit’s workshop facilitated by Marianne T. Schoerling (PhD), the OQI Educational Consortium discussed the educational activities on the occasion of the 2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). We are collaborating to ensure that everyone has access to quantum education and training.
