In the face of escalating humanitarian challenges the role of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC becomes more evident with each passing day. Next week we will convene our 24th Session of the General Assembly, a gathering of forces representing millions of volunteers from 191 National Societies in one Global and Local organisation. Together, we will tackle critical issues that will shape our collective future and remind us of our role and mandate in these challenging times. This Assembly is a unique opportunity for us to take actions that will reinforce our accountability and foster trust with the communities we serve, our valued donors, and our essential partners. The eyes of the world are upon us, and the call for transparency and accountability has never been more pressing.

The Palestine Red Crescent, in partnership with World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNRWA, and the Ministry of Health, has launched the second round of polio vaccinations for children under 10 in central #Gaza. The campaign will run for three days, with the possibility of extending it by an additional day if necessary. Vaccinations are being provided in Palestine Red Crescent's clinics located in Deir al-Balah, al-Bassa, al-Sawarha, al-Zawaida, and al-Nuseirat. In addition to the vaccinations, Vitamin A supplements are being provided to children to help strengthen their immunity. Thanks to Palestine Red Crescent teams as well as healthcare workers and volunteers who are making this campaign possible.

Every journey deserves compassion. No migrant should face it alone. Around the world, Red Cross and Red Crescent teams work tirelessly to provide essential services and meet the urgent needs of people on the move. Together, we make their journeys safer and more dignified. During the Red Cross and Red Crescent statutory meetings, taking place next week, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC will reiterate its call to governments to take action to ensure that all migrants are safe and treated with dignity. Migrants are #NotAlone.

“When I told my parents about handwashing, they were happy for my information, and they started practising.” 👐💧🧼 In Kenya, members of the Rwatha School Health Club, set up by the Kenya Red Cross, learn about the importance of handwashing and other measures to protect themselves from infectious diseases. They then share what they’ve learned with their fellow pupils, families and wider communities to help them stay healthy and safe. The Rwatha School Health club is one of many set up in Kenya as part of the Community Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Programme, funded by USAID. Find out more: https://bit.ly/3UgrYss

Since day one, Lebanese Red Cross has been on the frontline, delivering emergency medical services and blood transfusions across the country. We've distributed 270,000 meals, 100,000 water bottles, blankets, mattresses, and hygiene kits to displaced families. However, with only 13% of our appeal covered, we are facing severe shortages of medical supplies, ambulances, and fuel. We urgently call for international solidarity to continue our lifesaving operations in Lebanon and Syria. Most importantly, we need the violence to stop. Listen to Lotte Ruppert.
