Have you ever asked yourself how buildings can contribute to nature and biodiversity? We are thrilled to announce the launch of ‘Catalysing Biodiversity on Buildings’, a report developed by IUCN, Holcim, and Second Nature Ecology and Design. Presented at #Davos2025, this report sheds light on how buildings can be transformed into thriving ecosystems to combat biodiversity loss. The report explores 8 pioneering European cities that are leading the way with innovative actions and policies to enhance biodiversity at the building scale. From green roofs that provide habitats for pollinators to wildlife-friendly and bird-safe architectural principles, these cities are setting inspiring examples of how urban environments can coexist with nature, improving human health, well-being and social cohesion. In the report, you will find: 🌼 Best practices for incorporating biodiversity into urban design. 🏙️ Concrete incentives and policy frameworks driving change. 🌍 A roadmap for scaling these solutions globally. As urbanization rates continues to rise, this report demonstrates that cities can be part of the solution for a greener and more biodiverse future. 📘 Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/er-5zGcW 🌿 #biodiversity #sustainability #urbaninnovation #UNI #greencities #naturepositive #builtenvironment

Part of the work by SCF aims to change the perceptions of investors AND investees on what they now see as green infrastructure deals with • high-cost, • high-risk, and • low-benefit. This is the "capacity building" aspect, a focus of our latest newsletter. It is an integral part of the finance and projects for climate and nature that the SCF is working for. IUCN Global Fund for Coral Reefs UN Climate Change IUCN European Regional Office IUCN Oceania IUCN Climate Team IUCN Protected and Conserved Areas IUCN Water and Wetlands IUCN Eastern and Southern Africa
Our latest newsletter is out! This quarter we focus more specifically on the role of #capacityBuilding but as usual, we give you an update on the number of projects supported since inception (38). And we also, give you an overview of one of our #agriculture / #urbansolution project, Ifria Cold Chain Development Company. https://lnkd.in/ernBAzwM IUCN Business and Nature, Gold Standard, Catalytic Finance Foundation and Pegasus Capital Advisors

In Busan, South Korea, and we’ve just concluded an #EPPIC_Plastics convening of experts on avoiding #PlasticPollution in the Food and Beverage industry, discussing the value of public-private partnerships in sharing common challenges and innovative product design solutions! This #EPPIC convening complemented the ongoing UN Plastics Treaty negotiations at #INC5 in Busan, for an international, legally binding instrument to #EndPlasticPollution. It was hosted by The Aspen Institute, with partners IUCN, The Ocean Foundation, Searious Business, and supported by the U.S. Department of State. EPPIC (the End Plastic Pollution International Collaborative) exists to make a difference, engaging various multilateral stakeholders to discuss shared challenges in combating the plastic pollution crisis. It has already sparked robust conversations for solutions that shift product design to address plastic pollution.
