📷 Throwback to Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg: As we at HHLA gear up for a climate-neutral future, we didn’t want to miss the chance to engage with industry experts, explore the latest advancements, and strengthen our commitment to decarbonising logistics 🌍💧 Since 2022, we’ve been collaborating with over 40 partner companies worldwide to develop market-ready hydrogen-powered vehicles and equipment. Our colleague Karin Debacher, Head of Hydrogen Projects at HHLA, brought her insights and experience to the stage as an expert speaker on two key panels. Her key takeaways: ✨ Hamburg is emerging as a major player in the hydrogen value chain integrating green hydrogen across various sectors. The Port of Hamburg acts as a key catalysts for green fuel adoption. 🚀 Even though the industry is moving slower than expected, we are seeing progress: Green hydrogen production has grown by 50% in the last three years, and investment decisions in electrolysis projects across Europe have quadrupled. 📈 Prioritising tangible projects and fostering collaboration across diverse sectors is driving innovation in hydrogen. #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #logistics

Say hello to the Höegh Aurora, the world’s largest and most eco-friendly car carrier, calling at our UNIKAI terminal in Hamburg this week⚓ This nearly 200-metre-long vessel, operated by Norwegian shipping company Höegh Autoliners, has a load capacity of over 9,100 vehicles 🚘 More than just its size, the Höegh Aurora stands out for its sustainability, with engines designed to run on alternative fuels such as LNG, and eventually ammonia. At HHLA, we’re proud to support efforts toward more sustainable maritime operations. That's why our CEO, Angela Titzrath, was also on-site at our terminal to welcome the Aurora and mark this step in eco-friendly logistics 🌱 📷 Port of Hamburg / HHM, HHLA #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #sustainability

Driving Towards a Greener Future 🚛🔋 We're working full speed ahead to find alternatives to diesel – from battery-powered propulsion and hydrogen to alternative fuels for internal combustion engines. Our Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are a testament to this progress. The AGVs transport steel boxes between the quayside and container storage blocks without emitting carbon, soot, or nitrogen oxide. They charge in just 90 minutes at 18 rapid-charging stations, powering a full day's work and saving 5 million litres of diesel annually since late 2023. We're also retrofitting tractor units and have long powered our cranes with green electricity. This includes 14 container gantry cranes, 52 portal cranes in storage blocks, and 4 rail gantry cranes. 🌱🏗️ Our rail subsidiary METRANS Group has introduced e-trucks for container transport in Hungary and Slovakia, paving the way for more sustainable logistics beyond the Port of Hamburg 🚛🔌 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #sustainability #logistics

“The logistics of the future is network logistics.” 🌍 Yesterday, our CEO Angela Titzrath participated in a panel on “Resilience of Global Maritime Supply Chains” at the IAPH World Ports Conference. The event brings together industry leaders to address challenges and opportunities shaping the future of global trade and logistics. 💡 Key Takeaways: ⏩ The future of logistics is all about network logistics. ⏩ Success will belong not only to the largest ports but to those with the strongest networks, best hinterland connections, and most sustainable strategies. ⏩ Given the fragility of supply chains, strong leadership is essential: effective communication keeps people, systems, and assets interconnected. As a European network logistics provider, we at HHLA are committed to ensuring the reliable flow of goods, supporting everyday needs and the economy. By working closely with our customers and partners, we are making logistics resilient and sustainable, building on smart solutions and the power of our networks. #HHLA #Logistics #WorldPortsConference #IAPH2024 📷 HHLA, Richard Langdon
