While all other versions of the 997.2-generation 911 featured direct fuel injection, the GT3 was different. Its 3.8-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, increased from 3.6 litres, was based on the Mezger design and featured manifold injection – a design with its origin firmly rooted in Porsche’s motorsport history. Here it produced 435 PS. The rear wing was reduced from two elements to one, and centre-lock wheels and a manual six-speed transmission came as standard. One of the innovative new features, however, was the optionally available Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM). Porsche honors its legendary automotive heritage with an extraordinary creation: the 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special. This one-of-a-kind vehicle commemorates the 70th anniversary of the official Porsche team's historic participation in the first era of the Carrera Panamericana Mexico, drawing inspiration from the iconic 550 Spyder. As the final piece of a special trilogy celebrating the brand's success in this emblematic Mexican race, it will also be auctioned for charitable causes. As a perfect addition, TAG Heuer pays tribute to this legendary race through the release of the limited TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana. Porsche has left an indelible mark on the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. At the Road Atlanta finale, the works team scooped the entire title pool in the top GTP class. Porsche Penske Motorsport’s two Porsche 963 finished the ten-hour Petit Le Mans race in second and third place. Works drivers Dane Cameron from the USA and Felipe Nasr from Brazil secured the drivers’ crown. The titles in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup also went to the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart. In the GTD Pro class, the customer team AO Racing clinched championship honours with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, and the former Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich from Germany is the new champion in the top category for GT vehicles. Moreover, the manufacturers’, team and drivers’ titles in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup also went to Porsche. Let’s take a moment to have a closer look at Turbonite, a new colour that Porsche has developed exclusively for its Turbo models. Composed with great care by the Porsche Colour & Trim experts, the metallic tone has gold elements that create an elegant, metalising effect, while the top layer has a contrasting satin finish. Turbonite will be the dominant colour in the special crest that sits on all the Turbo models, and it’ll soon feature on the light alloy wheels as well on the steering wheel. Depending on the model series, further details such as the inlays in the front aprons, the spokes or the aeroblades of the light alloys could feature Turbonite paintwork too. Hochzeit in technischer Präzision „Das Zusammenfügen von Fahrwerk und Karosserie bei der sogenannten Hochzeit bezeichnen wir gerne als das Herzstück der Produktion“, sagt Sebastian Böttcher, Planer für Betriebsmittel bei der Porsche Leipzig GmbH. Für den vollelektrischen Macan wurde die Anlage im Werk Leipzig neu konzipiert. Das Besondere daran? Die neue Hochzeit ist auf Vielseitigkeit ausgelegt: „Die Anlage macht es möglich, alle aktuellen Antriebskonzepte – Benzin-, Hybrid- und E-Fahrzeuge – auf einer Linie zu fertigen“, erklärt Sebastian. Diese Mixfertigung steht im Gegensatz zu anderen Produktionsstätten, bei denen in der Regel ein Derivat pro Linie gefertigt wird. Möglich macht dies eine neue Anlage mit neun Stationen, Robotertechnik und automatisierten Prozessen. „Die neue Hochzeit erinnert in ihrer Komplexität an ein Uhrwerk", beschreibt Sebastian. Femtec meets #Porsche Nach der "Femtec Network Meets" in Berlin haben wir kürzlich 26 ausgewählte Studentinnen aus dem MINT-Bereich bei uns in Zuffenhausen begrüßen dürfen. Die Talente erhielten einen exklusiven Blick hinter die Kulissen unserer Produktion. Außerdem standen Themen wie die Elektromobilität, ein World Café mit unseren Recruitern, Femtec Alumni und dem Diversity-Team sowie ein Panel Talk mit Andreas Haffner, Vorstand für Personal- und Sozialwesen, auf dem Programm. Unter dem Leitmotiv „Empower. Connect. Inspire.“ fördert das Femtec Network seit mehr als 20 Jahren gezielt die weiblichen MINT-Talente von morgen. Porsche ist Gründungsmitglied und damit von der ersten Stunde an Partnerunternehmen des Career-Building-Programms. Das Ziel: Die Stipendiatinnen mit Praxiseinblicken auf zukünftige Herausforderungen in Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft vorzubereiten.

Welcome to the Romanian House of Turbo. Hotel Castelnor was the hub of the recent event celebrating the 50th anniversaries of the Porsche Turbo and the famous Transfăgărășan Highway in Romania. For 10 days, the hotel became the ‘House of Turbo’, with a special static display featuring the stunning 991 Turbo S Exclusive Series and an extensive array of #Porsche Museum exhibits. Featuring a model-specific high-revving engine and sports seats carried over from the Carrera GT supercar, the 997-generation 911 GT3 arrived in showrooms in May 2006 and remained on sale until 2008. It was the first 911 GT3 to include the air outlet integrated into the front bumper and twin central exhaust tips at the rear – design details that have featured on every GT3 model since. The 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine produced 415 PS, enabling a top speed of 310 km/h – both significant increases over the previous model. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) became standard equipment. And with a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 4.3 seconds, it remains a quick car even by today’s standards. But it wasn’t just about straight-line speeds – this was a car designed to be as capable and engaging on track as it was on the road. 📷 Roman Rätzke

The crew of the Porsche Gipfeltreffen was as interesting as the sports cars that encountered numerous highlights on the journey, from the Porsche Brand Store in Stuttgart and the Black Forest, to some of the most beautiful roads and passes in Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France. The names alone evoke automotive wanderlust: the Grimsel Pass, Col du Galibier, and the legendary Col de Turini, which signalled the approach to the final destination – sun-soaked Nice on the Côte d'Azur.
