#Racism is not always visible. It often operates in the background, deeply rooted in the very structure of our societies and institutions. 📢 It is time for decisive action at the political level, argues a new policy brief by our partner Migration Policy Group. As a first step, governments need to provide comprehensive data on the issue of structural racism and its impact on different demographic groups. 📊 The policy brief is based on an 🔎 analysis of 8 EU countries and derives recommendations to address structural and institutional racism effectively. ➡️ Download and read the policy brief for free: https://lnkd.in/eN5hwi_b #FightRacism #PolicyRecommendations | Isabelle Chopin | Carmine Conte, PhD

Who can apply? > Hosts: Host organizations or initiatives based in Ukraine lacking human resources and specific expertise > Fellows: Experts based in Europe who would like to work in person in Ukraine We welcome applications also from already existing teams that have been temporarily or permanently working remotely, or from teams that would like to work with an external specialist in person. My visit to #India with a group of MPs from #Germany and #Australia was eye-opening and mind-blowing. During our two stops in New Delhi and Mumbai, we discussed #securitypolicy and #geopolitics, India’s neighbourhood policy, its economic situation, energy and environment policy, digital policy, India’s cultural soft power and domestic policy preoccupations. We spoke to policymakers, policy analysts, civil society representatives, journalists and cultural leaders. We saw the affluent upwardly mobile internationally experienced India, but also visited Dharavi, Asia’s second largest slum which doubles up as an economic powerhouse. The red thread of this visit was one of contrast between, haves and have nots, inside and outside, tradition and modernity. After six intense days, I fully buy into the saying “The more you see of India, the less you know about India.” Sharing some of many impressions here: ✏ India does not exist as a homogenous entity. There is no one India, but many. Europeans should know how this feels. ✏ Understanding India better is key to understanding the strategically important #IndoPacific region better. The German government is heavily investing in this relationship, which is well noticed. ✏ India expertise in Germany is still under-developed, in contrast to China expertise. This is an area we should be investing in more. Talking to our Australian friends helps. Academic cooperation could be another lever. ✏ India is indispensable for the global world order in light of the Russia’s war in #Ukraine and the weakness of international institutions. India’s ambivalence towards Russia is inter alia due to its strong dependence on Russian military equipment. It should be in Europe’s vital interest to change this. ✏ On #digitalization, India is a prime example for leapfrogging. It was fascinating to see how you can pay electronically at even at the most rocked-down tea stall. ✏ The ‘largest #democracy in the world’ as Indians proudly call themselves, is alive and healthy, despite valid concerns about the ruling BJP party. Best quote: ‘No one really knows how it works, but it does’. ✏ We need to adopt a more self-critical and humble attitude when speaking about democracy. Our Indian interlocutors were not shy to point out deficiencies in Western democracies. Never forget: India wants to be a partner at eye level. This was our first multilateral program for policymakers within the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Our inspiring group of German and Australian policymakers took the discussions to the next level. I look forward to continuing exchange and mutual learning within this group and beyond. A bit thank you to a wonderful team who made this possible. It was a pleasure working with you, and it was great fun, too! 📋 For parliamentarians, moments out of the political routine are rare – and yet invaluable. This is especially true when it comes to #SecurityPolicy and #ForeignPolicy, where personal exchanges across party and national lines are crucial to seeing the bigger picture of today's global challenges. 🌍 💬 Through our Global Dialogue program, we have created such an independent forum for German parliamentarians to meet and learn from policymakers and experts from other regions of the world. 🛫 This week, German and Australian politicians traveled to New Delhi and Mumbai to engage with their Indian counterparts, policymakers, renowned experts and civil society . 🇮🇳 During this study tour, parliamentarians from all three continents exchanged experiences, shared best practices, and strengthened networks across borders. 🫱🏿🫲🏽 We discussed a wide range of issues that all benefit from mutual cooperation and joint efforts: ▫️Indo-Pacific security dynamics ▫️Multilateral economic relations ▫️Climate change impacts ▫️Advancing digital policy in the age of AI ▫️Strengthening democracy 💡 This trip highlighted the importance of #India as a central player in the Indo-Pacific region. It clearly demonstrated that mutual understanding and cooperation are essential to address both national and global challenges in an interconnected world. ➡️ Learn more about our commitment to strengthening evidence-based and future-oriented policymaking: https://lnkd.in/eQ8hdRvM #InternationalRelations #IndoPacific | Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) | ANU National Security College | Rory Medcalf AM | Thorsten Benner | German Embassy New Delhi | Australian High Commission, New Delhi | Joel Sandhu | Tim Wilford

Our yearly gathering of all the Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows, the Weizsäcker Forum #RvWForum on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the Academy #RBA10 concluded on Friday last week. This year's forum was special for many reasons. To begin with, it was a celebration of the Academy and all the Fellows that make it special. In the following days, the Fellows had the opportunity to work together in smaller groups on issues that are relevant to their own work. This was done in two different formats- the first format allowed them to discuss issues like #Democracy, #Migration, #ClimateFinance, #NATO, #Trade and #HumanRights together with German parliamentarians and some of their other peers from Berlin. The other format allowed them to collaborate amongst themselves and have intense conversations, heated debates over a span of three days on issues like the rise of #China, the #GlobalSouth and the #InternationalOrder, the global rise of the #FarRight, the role #Philanthropy and #Civilsociety in today's world and last but not least, an imagination exercise to imagine a common, shared future and what it could look like. We will share some key highlights from each session/ working group here in the days to come. But for the time being, do join us to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Academy and all the Fellows who make it so special. J.P. Singh, Kamal Amakrane, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, Natalia Gavrilița, Kwasi Prempeh, Huang Jing: Thank You for agreeing to do this video. And Thank You to Steffen Kayser and his team for capturing the spirit of the celebrations so beautifully. Robert Bosch Stiftung

⚕️ For a long time, men were considered the medical norm – the standard patient, both in medical treatment methods and in drug trials. With fatal consequences, because women become ill in different ways to men. 🎥 We accompanied Nora Göbel, Senior Consultant for Cardiovascular Surgery at the Robert Bosch Krankenhaus in Stuttgart (Germany), on her day-to-day clinical work. She explains why a different perspective on men and women is important in #Medicine. ➡️ Watch the full video: https://lnkd.in/ebWvj3me #GenderMedicine #GenderEquality #HealthcareGap

#RBA10 #RvWForum And its that time of the year again when all our Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows come "Home" - back to Berlin, back to the Academy!! We are thrilled to have the Fellows join us for our annual event, the Richard von Weizsäcker Forum here in Berlin and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Robert Bosch Academy. In the midst of all the conflicts around the world and the fault lines that it has exposed in an increasingly fractured world, the Forum this year will dedicate time and space to explore different facets of the changing in the #internationalorder, to understand different positions and listen to voices which are often unheard. Stay tuned for updates and highlights from the discussions and the deliberations. Robert Bosch Stiftung © David Ausserhofer
