Info

We are the Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics, part of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Aviation urgently needs to become climate neutral and cost efficient at the same time. How can technological building blocks, aircraft configurations and operating concepts be combined in order to meet these goals in the best possible way? How can integrated cabin concepts, passenger comfort, circular material use and efficient industrialisation be reconciled? Finding answers to pressing and complex questions like these is at the heart of our research: we explore the architecture of the overall aviation system with all its parameters and interdependencies. Our approach to answering these cross-disciplinary questions is based on the increasing availability of data and digital models (digital thread). This allows us to model aeronautics holistically as a system-of-systems. Differently put, we focus on digital development processes so we can best join our research efforts in this field both internally and externally: we collaborate with the other 54 DLR institutes and partners from research and industry. Only together we can examine every possible research aspect in its necessary depth. Here on LinkedIn we would like to share with you the different topics we cover and our latest findings but also our passion for science and technology.
