🍃New loan assists Ecofy in financing over one million electric vehicles and 1.5 Gigawatt of rooftop solar in India 🍃 IFU has provided USD 12.5 / DKK 90 million in loan finance to Ecofy Finance Private Limited, which is a financial company focused on accelerating the green transition in India. The company plans to finance over one million electric vehicles and more than 1.5 GW of rooftop solar within the next 6-7 years. This will support decarbonisation of the transportation sector and power consumption of households and small businesses in India. Ecofy aims to address the critical last-mile climate finance gap in India. A part of IFU’s finance will be directed towards individuals and SMEs, who typically find traditional financing channels less accessible and therefore are largely excluded from acting as green consumers. Vivek Khandelwal, Treasury Head at Ecofy, said, “This investment is a pivotal moment for both, Ecofy and the green finance ecosystem in India. The long-term capital provided by IFU empowers us to scale our climate-focused lending solutions while breaking down barriers for underserved borrowers. 🌱Today is International Day of Forests, and we support sustainable forestry! In 2024, we made two investments in sustainable forestry in Colombia and Paraguay, committing a total of 💰USD 20.9m to projects that balance commercial viability with environmental responsibility. 🌳In Colombia, the Amazonia Nativa project is set to restore up to 7,500 hectares of land by planting native hardwood species and acai palms – reversing degradation and promoting biodiversity. 🌳In Paraguay, SAIFF is targeting a forestry portfolio of over 80,000 hectares, planting approximately 60 million trees. At least 25 per cent of the area managed will be protected for conservation and restoration activities driving significant ecosystem benefits that will improve flora, fauna and wildlife. Deforestation and biodiversity loss remain critical global challenges. The investments contribute to carbon sequestration, supporting our ambition of moving toward a net-zero emissions portfolio 🌍.
