Together, we are building a more sustainable future! 🌱 We are proud to produce 150 recyclable blades for the Sofia project, one of the world's largest offshore wind farms. Sofia will be the first in UK waters to feature this industry-leading innovation. #WindEnergy RWE Cadeler
Wind Peak Breezes Into Port – Delivering the Future of Offshore Wind Watch as the brand-new, state-of-the-art Wind Peak turbine installation vessel from Cadeler arrives, ready to transport the first 14MW turbine components for the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm—195km offshore, where installation is set to begin. With foundations in place and turbine installation starting soon, we’re on track to start powering this year. But we’re not just building a wind farm—we’re setting new standards for sustainability. In collaboration with Siemens Gamesa, 50% of the turbine blades will be recyclable, showcasing how RWE is driving innovation while supporting jobs and prosperity in coastal communities. Once complete, Sofia will be capable of powering the equivalent of over 1.2 million UK homes, playing a key role in RWE’s commitment to offshore wind expansion and supporting the UK Government’s Clean Power target for 2030.

👩🔧 Gender equality progress is slow. At this rate, it will take until 2158 to reach full parity, according to the World Economic Forum. We must act now for a fair and inclusive future. On #InternationalWomensDay, we honor women like Geles Ruiz Cacho and her team, breaking barriers in the energy transition, and allies supporting gender equality. 🌎 Let's unite to #AccelerateAction and support advancement #ForAllWomenAndGirls. Driving the energy transition and shaping the future of energy relies on all of us. #TeamPurple

👏 We celebrate our investment to expand our factory in Le Havre, France. 🇫🇷 We are integrating advanced wind power technology and transforming our site into a state-of-the-art blade manufacturing hub for offshore projects for our 14 MW turbines. 🌊 Thank you to Marc Ferracci, French Minister for Industry & Energy, Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre, Yara Chakhtoura, our Managing Director in France and to our dedicated employees.🙌 Their presence today highlights the significance of this milestone for both France and the European offshore industry. 🇫🇷 🇪🇺 With future ambitions in France, including 1 GW already delivered and 2.5 GW coming up, we will contribute to energizing around 4 million households and Le Havre will become an integral part of our global offshore manufacturing network. We are grateful for the support of the French government and the European Commission, which strengthens European competitiveness in the energy transition in times of change. #WindEnergy #SustainableFuture #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy

A big step towards full circularity! 🌍 Siemens Gamesa is producing 115-meter-long blades for Ørsteds Greater Changua 2b + 4 in Taiwan using recycled glass fibers from old wind turbine blades. As turbines from the early days of the wind industry reach their end of life, the industry is committed to finding sustainable ways to dispose of materials, especially composite materials in blades. We joined the DecomBlades project in 2021, which aims to establish sustainable value chains for recycling wind turbine blades. In October 2023, the DecomBlades project announced its success in retrieving and processing fibres from old blades into new high-performing fibres. Together with our value chain partners we are now using these fibers to produce new 115-meter-long blades. It’s more than recyclability. It’s full circularity 🌱💨 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ducqfR4a #CircularEconomy #WindEnergy #Innovation

A new megaproject for Germany's energy transition! We have completed the installation of the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind park in Germany. ✔️ Two installation vessels, around 50 service providers and partners and hundreds of technicians were involved to install 249 rotor blades with a length of 97 m, 332 tower segments and 83 nacelles in around 6 months’ time. ✔️All together the 83 SG-11-200 DD generate 913MW of electricity, providing clean and affordable energy for over 900,000 homes. Ørsted's newest offshore wind park is among the largest in the world. It will help a number of large companies to improve their carbon footprint and provide them with a reliable energy supply through a number of corporate power purchase agreements. #WindEnergy #TeamPurple
