Social welfare benefits empower families to improve their children’s lives. In the Cook Islands, UNICEF is supporting the Ministry of Internal Affairs with validation of the first ever National Social Assistance Policy 2024-2028. The Policy, which will benefit over 4,000 children, will enhance the delivery of social welfare assistance for families as well as the ability of the system to be child-sensitive and further support the wellbeing of children. A world fit for every child 💙 In the Cook Islands, we are supporting the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the implementation of the National Disability Action Plan 2025-2026. This follows community consultations and dialogue with key partners on the Action Plan. UNICEF is proud to support Pacific governments in strengthening disability inclusive support and services for children and communities.

Prioritizing access to quality education for every child 💙 UNICEF Pacific in collaboration with the Global Partnership for Education is supporting the Solomon Islands Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development in building the capacity of Honiara and Guadalcanal authorities, education providers and school leaders for implementation of the new Education Act 2023. The new Act focusses on strengthening inclusion, integrating early childhood education for 3-and 4-year-olds, giving provincial authorities a greater role in leading and delivering education services for their communities.
