The One Planet network implements the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).

À propos

It is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards SCP in both developed and developing countries. The framework supports capacity building, and facilitates access to technical and financial assistance for developing countries for this shift. The 10YFP aims at developing, replicating and scaling up SCP and resource efficiency initiatives, at national and regional levels, decoupling environmental degradation and resource use from economic growth, and thus increasing the net contribution of economic activities to poverty eradication and social development. The framework is meant to encourage innovation and cooperation among all stakeholders. Interested actors from all countries can be involved in the implementation of the 10YFP activities: government, private sector, civil society, researchers, UN agencies, financial institutions, and other major groups. 10YFP Objectives: - Accelerate the shift towards SCP, supporting regional and national policies and initiatives. - Contributing to resource efficiency and decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation and resource use, while creating decent jobs and economic opportunities and contributing to poverty eradication and shared prosperity. - Mainstream SCP into sustainable development policies, programmes and strategies, as appropriate, including into poverty reduction strategies. - Support capacity building and facilitate access to financial and technical assistance for developing countries, supporting the implementation of SCP activities at the regional, sub-regional and national levels. - Enable all stakeholders to share information and knowledge on SCP tools, initiatives and best practices, raising awareness and enhancing cooperation and development of new partnerships – including public-private partnerships.

  • 🌏 What if consumers held the key to climate action in Asia-Pacific? The region generates over half of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions — but it’s also home to a growing movement of consumers ready to embrace sustainable lifestyles, if they’re given the right choices. In this regional dialogue, co-hosted with Consumers International, we explored how empowering people as consumers — not just as citizens — can accelerate progress on sustainability without leaving anyone behind. 🎥 Missed it? Catch up with the full recording here: https://lnkd.in/eakWitVr 🧩 The session brought together a powerful mix of voices from government, business, youth, and civil society to tackle questions such as: How can sustainable living become the easy choice? What role should governments and companies play? How do we shift systems, not just habits? 👥 Featuring speakers from across the region: ▪️ UNEP, Hot or Cool Institute, Nestlé, Thailand Consumers Council, India’s Ministry of Environment, and more. If you care about climate, consumption, or consumer rights — this conversation is for you. #AsiaPacific #SustainableLifestyles #ConsumerEmpowerment #ClimateAction #OnePlanetNetwork #UNEP #ConsumersInternational

Emissions from the building and construction sector have stopped rising for the first time since 2020.   The buildings where we work, shop and live account for a third of global emissions and a third of global waste. According to UN Environment Programme’s latest report, "Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction 2024-2025 - Not just another brick in the wall", a growing number of countries are working to decarbonize the sector. The new data shows that by adopting mandatory building energy codes aligned with net-zero emissions, mandatory performance standards and seizing energy efficiency investments, the sector’s energy intensity has reduced by almost 10%, while the renewable energy share in final energy demand has increased by nearly 5%.   But slow progress and financing puts further success at risk. The good news is that government actions are working. But we must do more and do it faster. I encourage all countries to include plans to rapidly cut emissions from buildings and construction in their new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (#COP30) in Belém, Brazil.   Read the report, published by UNEP and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), in full: https://lnkd.in/dYxYsmiS

Our Sustainable Lifestyles Summit is in full swing, and packed full of powerful insights, solutions and actions to make sustainability accessible, transparent, and just for all consumers.   A few of the standout learnings so far include:   🍽️ Love Food, Hate Waste – Consumers urgently want more transparency in food labelling, education is crucial to empowering informed choices, and a circular economy approach is needed to cut waste.   🌏 Regional Connect on Sustainable Lifestyles in Asia – Consumers across Asia are supportive of sustainable lifestyles, but a successful transition will depend on recognising the rights and needs of different communities, especially the most vulnerable.   🔍 Consumer Information – 76% of Brazilian consumers would boycott unsustainable brands, proving that trust and transparency matter. Attendees heard more on the role of the EU Greenwashing Directive and the influence of AI-powered product assessments.    🤝 Making Sustainability More Human – More of us want to live sustainably but real challenges like cost and convenience stand in the way. We explored the importance of telling positive stories and greater understanding of the real and fast changing challenges we face as consumers.    ♻️ Unwrapping the Plastics Crisis – Plastic pollution is not just an environmental issue—it’s a health crisis. The Plastics Treaty must address toxic chemicals, product design standards, and financial support for low-income countries to drive meaningful change.   💡 Consumers Leading the Charge – The "values-action gap" is real. Consumers want to be sustainable but need affordable, accessible options. We heard case studies on how digital payments, data-driven policies, and community-led solutions are helping to make sustainability easier.   And we’re not done yet! We still have two more days of insightful discussions across nature and biodiversity, gender, energy, community action, as well as our closing session.   Register here: https://lnkd.in/eYUmHrn6 #WorldConsumerRightsDay #JustSustainableLifestyles
