⏪ As 2024 has ended… ⏩ … it’s now time to look ahead at what awaits the hydrogen world in 2025!   External challenges such as inflation and high interest rates have made this past year a trying one for the renewable energy sector, and in particular for the #hydrogen economy. But despite this difficult context, the hydrogen ecosystem continues to grow, with hundreds of projects currently under development or in construction around the world. 🌍   At Hy24, we are deploying more than 2 billion euros across the entire value chain — 80% of which involve assets that are under construction, operational, or already approved.   We believe that while the year 2025 may seem uncertain to some, there are some positive trends to look for. Pierre-Etienne Franc, CEO of Hy24, lists some of the ingredients needed to help the hydrogen economy flourish and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.

Thank you for having us, Hyvolution Paris!   Hy24’s representatives were pleased to share their insights on the #hydrogen market, reflecting on recent experiences and the impact of geopolitical and economic fluctuations. During the #MoneyTalks Opening Keynote, our CIO, Amir Sharifi, emphasized that commitments matter more than announcements. In 2024, €75 billion worth of projects reached final investment decisions or began construction. We anticipate even more in 2025 as we enter a new cycle of giga-scale projects.   Guillaume Lesueur, Head of the Clean Hydrogen Equipment Fund, highlighted the importance of a twofold strategy: scaling up manufacturing capacity to support industry growth and fostering innovation to enhance equipment efficiency. He also said that from his investor standpoint, now is a great timing to invest in hydrogen.   #Hyvolution also provided an opportunity to announce our support to Les Rencontres de Roissy Meaux Aéropôle as a partner and co-organizer for the next edition on October 14, 2025, in Meaux. The upcoming event will focus on #mobility and the critical role of clean e-fuels in advancing transportation solutions across Europe—from maritime to aviation and road transport. During the press conference, our CEO, Pierre-Etienne Franc, emphasized the need to sustain efforts across the ecosystem by bringing together institutional and political players alongside industry leaders and financial stakeholders. We extend our gratitude to Jean-François Copé and his team for their invitation, as well as to the other partners and co-organizers: Philippe BOUCLYFrance HydrogèneRoissy Meaux Aéropôle, and Groupe ADP, represented by Renaud Duplay, as well as Mikaa Blugeon-Mered.   The hydrogen sector needs a stronger-than-ever collaborative approach, with all players remaining committed to deployment timelines and targets, while ensuring bankability remains at the heart of the challenges.   Thank you to Pierre Buchou and the GL events team. Stéphanie Paysant, Yannael Billard, Carolina Echandía, Daphné Van Overbeke, Manon Lehallé, Inès Balikci.

The Hy24 team is delighted to have co-organized a hydrogen event in the Netherlands, with our LP ABN AMRO Bank N.V. This event provided a platform to showcase the progress within the hydrogen ecosystem, both in the #Netherlands and across #Europe. Despite the criticism faced by hydrogen due to scale, timing, and cost considerations, Europe has demonstrated bold leadership in the hydrogen space since the launch of the #REPowerEU plan in 2022. It is inspiring to witness the growing momentum and commitment in this critical sector. The participation of over 130 attendees from leading industrial and financial organizations underscores the dynamism and significance of #hydrogen as a key pillar of both Dutch and European climate and energy strategies. We extend our gratitude to the speakers who shared valuable insights on project timelines, key milestones, infrastructure development, equipment deployment, and manufacturing progress, as well as the challenges ahead. A heartfelt thank you to the ABN AMRO Bank N.V. team for hosting us at their headquarters in Amsterdam, to Noé van Hulst for his brilliant moderation, and to everyone who contributed to making this event a meaningful success. 💬 “Stay the course!” This was Pierre-Etienne Franc’s message at the #GreenHydrogenSummit in 🇦🇪 Abu Dhabi last week, which gathered leading hydrogen players from around the world as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week - ADSW. 🌍 In a high-level panel dedicated to the theme “Unlocking Capital for the Hydrogen Projects: A Multi-Stakeholder Perspective,” the CEO of Hy24 stressed the fact that the #hydrogen momentum was unprecedented, despite the many challenges the industry currently faces in a difficult economic and geopolitical context. For Pierre-Etienne Franc, the key for deploying more H2 projects is for investors and other stakeholders to find the “right combination” between: ✅ good timing (avoid going too fast but maintain a steady speed) ✅ suitable size (not too small but not too big either) ✅ drive (work with those who want to move forward). #ADSW #ADSW2025 #GreenHydrogen

💬 “There's nothing in what's happening to hydrogen that is the fault of hydrogen. All of it is a result of the external issues that have altered the costs.” In this article for Reuters Events Renewables, Pierre-Etienne Franc weighs in on the challenges faced by the clean #hydrogen industry in 🇪🇺 Europe, where it suffers from a lack of incentives to encourage companies to transition from traditional fossil fuels. The co-founder and CEO of Hy24 also discusses the fund’s new investment in its portfolio company Elyse Energy to help take its e-methanol and sustainable aviation fuel production projects to Final Investment Decision by the end of 2025. For more similar projects in the EU to reach FIDs, the European Hydrogen Bank needs to increase its funding from 2 to 40 billion euros, says Franc. 📈 Read the Reuters piece: https://lnkd.in/dx5A_pMV
