We are thrilled to announce that Transport UK is a UNESCO commercial partner for its 2025 World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development campaign.   This campaign will recognise the role of science and engineering in sustainable development. A short film will showcase Britain’s unrivalled rail heritage and highlight Transport UK’s innovative sustainable transport solutions, which reduce emissions and improve community safety. 🚆 🚍   The film features the sustainability initiatives we are undertaking at Merseyrail, Greater Anglia, and Transport UK London Bus. 🌟✨ I recently had an unforgettable moment during a lecture with civil and environmental engineering students and PhD candidates at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. The engagement and enthusiasm of the students were truly inspiring, and it was a pleasure to share insights on sustainability and innovation in engineering. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Prof. Geng Yong, the Dean of the Faculty, for his warm welcome and support throughout the visit. Interacting with such bright minds reinforced my belief in the importance of education and collaboration in addressing global challenges. 🌍✨ I had the privilege of attending the Zero-Carbon China International High-Level Conference on Carbon Neutrality for Cities and Communities held in late October at Shenyang Jianzhu University in #China. During this inspiring event, I had the opportunity to engage with industry experts, political leaders, and academics, all united by the common goal of promoting sustainability and carbon neutrality in urban areas. The discussions were rich with innovative insights, ranging from emission reduction policies to sustainable urban development projects. It is clear that international collaboration is essential to tackle climate challenges and build more resilient communities. A special thanks to Prof. Ling Wen and the #CCE committee of the #WFEO for the invitation and excellent organization of the event. It was an honor to participate and engage with all of you. 🌟✨ It was an indescribable honor to be the only European representative invited by the #WFEO (World Federation of Engineering Organizations) to the Zero-Carbon China International High-Level Conference on Carbon Neutrality for Cities and Communities, held in late October at Shenyang Jianzhu University in China. The opening of the conference was a touching moment, filled with energy and commitment to a sustainable future. It was extraordinary to see so many leaders and innovators gathered, along with a large number of students, to discuss the challenges of urban sustainability and opportunities for international collaboration. The enthusiasm of the students added special value to the event, highlighting the importance of engaging the next generation in these critical issues. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Europe in such a meaningful and inspiring context.
