Ruth Davis has been appointed the first UK’s Special Representative for #Nature. This is a joint role between the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Ms Davis will report to both the Environment Secretary and the Foreign Secretary.  The Foreign Secretary announced recently, as part of his speech on climate on 17 September, that the UK would appoint two new Special Representatives "to draw on the FCDO’s diplomatic and development heft to push for the ambition needed to keep 1.5 degrees alive" and "to drive forward this cross-Government reset even further". 🩰➡️ We were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate 50 years of the Royal Academy of Dance in 🇬🇷 and, of course, the much-deserved #RADFellowship to #MayaSofou for her outstanding contribution to the art of dance! 👇 The 🇬🇧 #RoyalAcademyofDance, one of the most prestigious dance education and training organisations in modern times, celebrates 50 years of inspiring #dance in Greece. Over the past five decades, the organisation has provided quality training to countless dancers, fostering a vibrant and thriving dance culture in #Greece. The celebrations kicked off on Wednesday 16 October with a reception hosted at the 🇬🇧 Residence and continued the next day at the Megaron - The Athens Concert Hall w/ a special exhibition. As the #RAD continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to its mission of providing exceptional dance education and supporting the development of young talent. The organisation's 50th anniversary in Greece is a testament to its enduring legacy and its dedication to inspiring the next generation of dancers. The Royal Academy of Dance honoured Maya Sofou, one of the key figures who have shaped the ballet education in 🇬🇷. Maya Sofou’s relentless pursuit of excellence has earned her the RAD Fellowship for the gift of creativity, discipline and passion she offered to her students over the years. #GreekBritishSymposium Day 3 ➡️ Session 4 The reconfiguration of supply chains will lead to changes in the transportation industry. Longer routes, terminal points requiring expansion and upgrade, better integration of sea and land transport, and higher speeds of movement are the broad areas where new thinking is necessary. The revisiting of sea and land transportation networks, the expansion of ports and train yards/ terminals and the shift to a new generation of transportation fuels are the main practical and financial challenges. Connecting efficiently and effectively entry points and production facilities with demand across Europe will be a technical but also a political feat.
