With the support of #Metlen, the Pop2See team travelled to Lisbon to participate in the global student social entrepreneurship competition, The Hult Prize 2024. The theme of this year's competition was "Unlimited", and Pop2See presented an innovative project that involved making everyday life easier for people with vision loss, using artificial intelligence. Out of 9,400 entries, Pop2See was selected to participate in the Global Summits, where they competed alongside 360 other teams. Of these, 52 qualified for the Lisbon Summits. While Pop2See did not advance to the next stage, their performance was noteworthy, ranking among the top European teams. We are pleased to have provided support to such a team and project, and we hope that the Pop2See team will continue to work with dedication and creativity to enhance the daily lives of individuals with vision impairment.

The annual General Assembly of the SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises | ΣΕΒ σύνδεσμος επιχειρήσεων και βιομηχανιών Business Council for Sustainable Development (SEVBCSD) took place on Wednesday 26/6/24. At this meeting, a new Board of Directors for the period 2024-2026 was elected. The Board of Directors includes Dimitrios Papadopoulos, Executive Board Member & Chief Corporate Governance and Sustainability Officer at #Metlen. At the first meeting of the Board, C. Alexopoulos, Deputy CEO of Helleniq Energy, was elected as President of the Board. The SEV Business Council for Sustainable Development (SEVBCSD) continues to set the standard for entrepreneurship, developing strategies, policies and targeted interventions that enhance competitiveness and promote the green transition of businesses.

On 26/6/24, we celebrated the launch of our new brand, #Metlen Energy & Metals, at the Aluminium Plant of Greece, the only fully vertically integrated aluminium plant in Europe. We are one of the few industries investing in the utilisation of bauxite residues, the production of rare earths like scandium, and meeting Europe's gallium needs. All these efforts are encapsulated in our new name, #Metlen. This name change will bring new milestones, challenges that we will overcome together and a position at the forefront of international business. Our name will become synonymous with quality and innovation, while maintaining our Greek identity.

Ioanna Pappa, Head of Talent, Learning and Development at #Metlen, gave a presentation to postgraduate students in Human Resource Management at the Alba Graduate Business School, on 29 June. She discussed current trends in learning and development, the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry, and the importance of understanding the business and acting as a constant business partner, regardless of job level.

Today, we proudly celebrated this significant milestone at the historic Aluminium of Greece factory and the country's largest energy center – Our Agios Nikolaos Energy Center. This is where the heart of our operations beats, and it is here that we welcome the new era of Metlen. This era will bring new milestones, peaks to conquer together, and place us at the forefront of international business. Our name will become synonymous with quality and innovation, starting with our entry into a new stock exchange while proudly maintaining our Greek identity. We feel especially proud of where we are and what we can still achieve. Metals, bauxite, aluminum, and critical minerals are vital not only for our country, industry, and development but also for the entire European continent and the new technologies that shape the future of the green transition. We are making strategic moves and investments to maintain a competitive position on the global cost curve while accelerating our green transition. On 19/6/24, #Metlen Energy & Metals entered into a cooperation agreement with the University of Tarapacá in Arica, Chile. The agreement was signed by Mr. Dustin Gray, Corporate Sustainability Manager Latam of #Metlen, and Dr. Emilio Rodríguez, Rector of the University of Tarapacá, in the presence of institutional and academic authorities. During the construction of the Wilka Solar Park (inaugurated last year), the two institutions discussed the prospect of collaboration to secure support on renewable energy and climate change issues. As the Rector, Dr. Emιlio Rodriguez, underlined, "An agreement with such a strong company as #Metlen has a positive impact on both the research work of the academic community and the professional careers of the University's graduates".

#Metlen played a role in achieving Global Sustainable Development Goal 2, which aimed to reduce food insecurity for vulnerable groups in Greece. This was achieved through the implementation of the "Collect 2023" project, which involved the distribution of food by consumer volunteers to the Food Bank, supporting more than 50,000 people. The international methodology SROI (Social Return on Investment) was employed by #Metlen to demonstrate that for every 1 euro invested in the "Collect 2023" action, 7.42 euros of social value were generated, benefiting 56,171 people and supporting 150 Breadlines and Foundations.
