#WorldHumanitarianDay - Salute to All Aid Workers 🫡】 "Twenty-one days after I gave birth to my second child, the conflict in Sudan suddenly erupted. I had no choice but fled with my family under the attacks. After settling down, I immediately devote myself to the relief work to provide support to displaced families."-Nahid Ali, Plan International's Campaign and Communications Coordinator in Sudan. Even after all suffered drastic changes and lost her home, she could not leave behind the children and families affected by the conflict and decided to go back to work and help displaced people find shelter, food, and clothing through social media right after settling down. "I am very proud of the humanitarian work I have done and the support I have been able to give to people in crisis. It is "#WorldHumanitarianDay" on 19 August. With constant conflicts and disasters around the world, humanitarian work faces unprecedented challenges. No matter how many obstacles we face, Plan International will fulfil our mission and continue to work with frontline humanitarian workers, braving tremendous dangers and difficulties to deliver humanitarian support and protection to those who need it most. 💪 Let's pay tribute to all humanitarian relief workers for their dedicated efforts!❤️ #PlanInternational #Humanitarian #Sudan

#UkraineCrisis: Voices from girls in crisis📣👧】 “I had an acquaintance, who was raped when she was returning home. After that there was a period when I didn’t want to go out anywhere. We tried to be accompanied just in case.” Marie, a girl aged 10–14 said. It has been more than two years since the #Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out. To escape the war, millions left their homes and sought refuge in neighbouring countries such as Poland and Romania, which has profoundly affected adolescents, especially girls’ mental and physical health😥. In “Adolescent Girls in Crisis: Voices from Ukraine, Poland and Romania”, Plan International’s latest released report, we interviewed 257 adolescents, caregivers and key stakeholders. 135 girls affected by the crisis in Ukraine shared their experiences and feelings during the conflict. The report found the conflict has had a devastating impact on girls’ mental health, their ability to go to school, their sense of safety, and even being at risk of sexual violence. As a result of martial law and conscription into army, males are absent from many households, women have to return to the workplace. The adolescent girls described that the burden of additional household chores, taking care of younger siblings and other adult responsibilities have fallen heavily on them, exerting greater pressure on them😔. The report also found that, despite such a dire situation, this group of young boys and girls is still full of ambitions for the future. Plan International continues to provide them with appropriate assistance to help them overcome trauma, fulfil their potential, and work together to rebuild a more peaceful, gender-equal, and inclusive society💪🏻❤️. ☞Full report: https://bit.ly/3WDZ9J3 #PlanInternational #UkraineCrisis #GirlsRights #Ukraine #Russia

【🏐Volleyball Inspires Girls To Fight For A Brighter Future】 The #ParisOlympics are in full swing, and the relentless spirit of the athletes is particularly inspiring. Physical activities not only boost children’s physical and mental health but also help build up mental strength and resilience. However, in developing countries, underprivileged schools lack the resources to install sports facilities, making it hard for students to access sports. 11-year-old Sreylen comes from a remote community in Cambodia🇰🇭and attends a school that used to be quite shabby, without any ball and other sports facilities. She could only chat with her friends during our school break. To help children grow and develop through sports, Plan International has launched the "Lifelong Learning" programme in Cambodia. Apart from building a new campus for Sreylen’s school🏫, we also set up sports facilities such as a volleyball court, basketball hoops🏀, soccer goalposts, and provided various sports equipment like balls and hula hoops. Promoting sports in schools also helps improve inclusiveness as boys and girls learn to get along equally👦👧. “I play volleyball with both girls and boys, everyone has their own strengths, and I believe girls can perform very well in sports!” Sreylen shared. Sreylen and the other girl classmates can now fully enjoy a variety of sports, she also falls in love with playing volleyball and realises that she can strive for a brighter future. Now Sreylen is heading towards a bold goal—to represent her school and compete at the district or provincial level someday☺️! We hope Sreylen and more other girls can overcome difficulties and achieve their ambitions! 🌟 #PlanInternatioanal #ParisOlympics #ParisOlympics2024 #GenderEquality #GirlsEmpowerment #Untilweareallequal #girlsinsports #EconomicEmpowerment
